Well, it's the same concept as using a key to set up an account of WoW. I don't like it either but other than things like Steam, it's what has been most the most effective and efficient solution rather than millions spent on [largel failed] anti-piracy. I just hope and pray they don't go the route of enforced online activation. I don't always have a steady access to the internet and that'd kill any interest I had in buying any games from them again.
