windows is closed source, and desktop versions are not designed for use with a cell-processor.
a recent windows on ps3 using an otherOS-like system won't happen.

an old version through emulation is possible, but won't be useful for anything except bragging rights.

Interesting question. Why's it possible to install Linux on a PS3, install Windows on any other pc, but at the same time impossible to install Windows on a PS3?

Aside from the obvious fact that installing Windows on a PS3 would be like taking the most beautiful girl in the world to a plastic surgeon and asking him to put a penis on her.

Linux is open-source for starters.

let's see.
windows is closed source(only microsoft has the code) and the desktop versions of windows are at this time only made for x86(32 bit) and x86-x64(64bit) CPU's.
linux is open source(everyone can access and modify the code) and it's designed with a lot more CPU's in mind such as arm, and powerpc(cell processor)

aside from that, the linux way of handling the compiling and installing of software is much friendlier for unusual processor architectures.
even if someone where to port windows to the cell processor, you wouldn't have a single working program because the software is entirely designed for x86 or x64.
with linux however most software is distributed in packages as source code, which during installation is built to suit the architecture of the processor you're using.
