I'd rather have a company label their games as "hardcore" then constantly labeling them as "accessible", "family friendly", or dare I say it, "casual".

It's a motion game with a target demographic of "core gamers". Deal with it.

Difference is that there are motion games advertised as "hardcore" that are "hardcore".

Red Steel 2 was a good example, as was MadWorld, HotD: Overkill, the list goes on. But when a game on a Sony platform does it, BOOO WHAT PRICKS WE HATE MOTION CONTROLS.

While I agree companies can use it to describe their games, using the word hardcore 4 different times, 3 in the same paragraph, is a little much.

Then blame a bad press release or bad journalism. The game itself could in fact be good and cater to a "core" audience, but it was probably just a poorly worded press release. He probably just didn't have a thesaurus on hand.

I never thought that there was any doubt about Move being over all the better tech. I mean I wouldn`t compare it to Kinect, since that`s completely different, but it sure is more accurate then the Wiimote+...

What I think is more interesting is which tech was put in better use as of yet and aside of WSR, Red Steel and Zelda Motion+ wasn`t used that much in good ways (those were brilliant though) but Move wasn`t at all imo, so I`m eager to see if they can come up with such a killer-title.

Sorcery looks interesting, but who knows... Haven`t seen much of it in a long time. I also haven`t gotten a move controller so Sony still needs to make the title, that makes me buy it...

I'd rather they wouldn't, because in 90% of the cases "hardcore" only means "GRIMDARK BLOOD GUTS KILLING HOOKERS MORE BLOOD MOAR GRIMDARK IN SHADES OF BROWN BECAUSE REALISM HURR DURR" and is adolescent bait. Any game proclaiming itself "hardcore" is trying too hard.

I hate to come off as a Nintendo fan boy, but hey, it's what you people have come to expect.

Taking an idea that was already proven successful and making it just a little more responsive doesn't take as much skill as introducing said concept and having it do extremely well, and Nintendo did both of those things already. Besides, Wii Motion Plus works well enough for me anyway.

[title:One a side note...]... Sony's the company that openly bashed gimmicks like motion controls and touch screens both while unveiling the PS3 and in commercials for it. Seeing them try to get into the gimmicks themselves just proves how little they value your intelligence as a consumer. That's how it comes off to me anyway.

You forgot HD!!!!!!!
I don't think you could do a game like this on either Kinect or Wii.
lol... oh wait he was serious? Let me laugh some more.

I didn't see myself buying the move for just this one game...

The game remind me of Harry Potter and the computer game Wizard 101.

I agree. the wii was originally going have motion-plus like controls--which are equivalent to the move. however, at the time of the wii's launch, it was too expensive to pull off. it's definitely understandable when Iwata said that he'd be embarrassed to do what their (nintendo's) competitors are doing--specifically taking a jab at sony's move saying that they're essentially bringing five-year old technology to the table like it's something new. the fact that sony gave up on dual-shock at the ps3's launch claiming it was last gen when in reality it was due to patent infringement showcases sony's complete lack of effort when it comes to innovation. they only launched the dual-shock 3 after the other company's patent expired--3 years later? that is just pathetic.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
