So last week I pre-ordered my Nintendo Switch from Best Buy. (1/12/17 at 11:30PM PST)

Today I checked my Bank Account and Best Buy with my pre-order.

It showed as: [Checkcard Reversal 01/19 Best Buy XXXX]
and then above it: [Checkcard Best Buy XXXX]

I check my balance and it is X + Price paid for Switch

Luckily my Best Buy pre-order is not canceled so I am good on that part.

The reason I am asking this is because my balance would usually be X - Switch price.

Did Best Buy just give me the money back in a sense that I pre-ordered the Switch for free?

No I believe they take the money just to check if you have enough in your account to actually purchase it then return it just to take it when it gets closer to release.

It's more like your like X+switch price for now, once it gets closer to release they should take the full amount for the preorder, they may also take and return the money every once in a while to make sure you still have enough in your account.

90% of the time they put a hold on the money for 3 to 4days when you preorder to make sure you have the money in your account.
They then refund it back to the card (it never left was just a hold tho)
The when the release date happens they charge your car for real.
