I was given a Wii to do a softmod. I discovered that it already had a mod, but not the same method I do (all the system menu IOSes, including the latest 4.3E IOS80, are v16174).
I tried to backup the NAND using bootmii ios but it fails the verification in the same spots even changing the sd card, so I am cautious with experiments since I don't know if the backup would effectively recover the wii if something happens.
Now, I installed cios d2x in ios 249 259 and 251 following the classic guide. In this console, however, some games, such as new super mario bros wii, won't start properly. When I boot it, the wiimote safety screen appears as usual but in english (not the system language of the wii, even if in usbloader the language isn't forced) and the wiimote won't work anymore. What is even stranger is that even after a power off, the wiimote doesn't work anymore and I have to resync it. (if i try to sync the wiimote while in the game, it doesn't resync).
I tried doing an official online update but anytithing changed. What can I do? Could they be the hacked system menu IOSes? Would a system format help?

I am using an original Wiimote. Sometimes games are simply stuck in black screen when booted and wiimote doesn't work either.
