Some questions about my new TV

USB port could be for DivX/Xvid playback. It would be easier if you could post the manufacturer and model number of your TV...

It has an USB port so you can play media files straight from that! Incredibly handy, I have it too.

Not that I know of.

Generally USB means you can have media playback from a USB Flash drive (MP3s, AVIs etc.)
Some TVs have as USB record feature which could theoretically be used to record the Wii. Other than that no you need a capture card.

Actually, USB ports on TVs generally serve one of two purposes - firmware upgrade or WiFi support.

DivX/avi playback via usb is more commonly found on DVD or Blu-Ray players which already have the necessary video processing hardware and codecs.

Best way to know for sure is to check your owners manual.

Actually, most of the time it is for maintenance, make sure to check your manual before you go raming things up in there
