Hardware Softmod to Hardmod

I have a SoftModded Wii (US, NTSC, 2006) and I wanted to upgrade to a hardmod but I have a few questions...


1. Can I start the game from the Wii Disc Channel?

2. Can I restore my Wii to the Genuine OS? (4.0U)

3. Why do I need to put a piece of cardboard on the ModChip? (Fire hazard?

)

4. What Wii Chipset do I have? (Wii Serial: LU3040XXXX)

2) Yes but why bother: the softmod software + hardmod is the best way to hack a wii.

3) Not fire, shorting hazard (there is a lot of metal around the wii) is why and electrical tape works just as well.

Softmod is somewhat causing some problems after the 4.0U update...

Just use an official Nintendo update and that should remove any custom IOS modules.

I tried to update but it said My Wii is up to date

So downgrade through HBC and then do a Nintendo update.
