everything is tied to the gt

The save is actually tied to the device you backed it up from, so it stores the ID of that.

You can use saves from other consoles/gamertags but it is quite tricky and will involve you editing some things.

If you can find a save editor use that and I suggest le fluffie http://skunkiebutt.com/?page_id=362 for fiddling with signing instead.

I warn you though MS really do not like this so be careful.
