It's part of the custom rom.The root shouldn't make a difference with the Pokemon that I have seen.I have a son that plays it all the time still, and his is rooted.I would unzip the custom rom and see by chance if it's a part of an .apk file itself and see if installs and works.I don't own the device so I can't say for sure.I would read up on the custom rom on XDA Developers. That should put you in the right direction.

You have the full back up already there.I would just save Odin and the firmware you downloaded. You'll be fine if you ever have to go back.

yeah, I definitely have stock back, so I'm gonna make a backup of this, so in case anything else goes wrong, I'll just restore the backup.
Some custom roms mess with kernels, so also mess with your battery settings, meaning that im 99% sure that you will have the battery issue due to the kernel or the wakelock issue on custom roms, trust me, just stay on stock.

Okay, I'll try and find the edge stuff in a .zip installer

I agree...when you start flashing custom roms it does effect various parts of the software itself. On some roms rooted you can work around battery issues with a re-calibration or turning various things off you may not even use.I have had some customs that were just awesome and better than stock.Depending on the developer etc...

Wakelock bug its a bitch on all roms, mostly on Cyanogen.

Pokemon Go since 0.37 utilizes SafetyNet. for a While Magisk PHH Superuser worked then HideSU, and I am not sure what other sytemless root tricks people are using now but I gave up and do not care about it anymore. Systemless root is enough to allow the Playstation Video app to work so I gave up fighting SafetyNet.
