Hacking So can you safely used a modded Switch online?

I have a launch day Switch which I haven’t modded yet. I plan to pick up Smash, update to play it, then later this weekend get modding it.

If I understand correctly, you launch into a custom firmware using RCM, and then launch into OFW using a normal boot.

Can I load a custom firmware, play backups and use homebrew offline. Then reboot into OFW and play my physical copies online? Can Nintendo still see modifications playing this way?

If you've ever modded your switch there is always going to be a chance you'll get banned, no matter what you do. Hopefully one day we will not have to worry about that but for now you have a high chance of getting banned.

The current safest way to use CFW while maintaining online functionality on OFW is to create an emunand and use CFW on there. Just boot into your usual nand to play online.
