They've already considered this and decided not to go ahead as it will just be a cut down version of whats out, sure they could do it 2D Jump style but the last I heard is that its not up for discussion and it won't happen.

One month we may not get a thread like this.

Jump Ultimate Stars is already a great game.. go play that instead

It would be nice, but it'll never happen. Want SSB's? Get a Wii, because it wont come to the DS. If you really want it so bad develop a homebrew version of the game.

Or One Piece: Gear Spirit...

I didn't liked Gear Spirit.. it's like Smash Bros.. but really crippled.. each character has like 2 different moves, and thats it.. JUS is way better.. and has a great Wifi mode, I always find people to play with

Only bad part is that it's always some really addicted japanese player that kicks my ass badly

I'd hate to rain on your parade but in an IGN Interview with Sakurai, he states that he doesn't like to downgrade his projects. This explains why Smash Bros. comes once a system and why we will never get a handheld version...

Well, Maybe but it will never be directed or Sakurai endorsed...

Yeah, well, I got a feeling Sakurai has jack-shit to do with that decision. The sole reason -- regardless of what anyone with Nintendo states publicly -- Smash Bros. will never leave the main Nintendo home console is to guarantee that, no matter how out of date, quirky or irrelevant their system is, it will still sell because people will buy it, if for no other reason than to play Smash Bros. on it. It's that simple. Sure, Zelda and Mario are system sellers...for fans of those series, but Smash Bros.? Damn, there's not many a fanboy of any system who doesn't still love Smash Bros.

Um, I read the first part of your petition, why on earth would they use sprites? All smash bros games have always used 3D models, and since the DS can handle 3D models quite well, I would think that a smash bros on the DS would use 3D models as well.

Well sprites have better hit detection instead of using collision detection [cause sprites use Hit Boxes]. It would reduce lag through wifi -- games like this definitely need wifi.

3D models can work exactly the same as sprites... except they're 3D :/
I mean SSB is a 2D game anyway, even if it's rendered in 3D.

not only 3D but use cell shaded graphics like LoZ PH that worked the best didnt it?

It'd be a dream to play a battle in SSB DS... for now I just enjoy my half translated Jump! (spanish though)

i read surfer girls blog sometimes and he/she says that there was a prototype for a Smash Bros. DS game but the reactions weren't so good.
i think when nintendo sees the success of SSBB, maybe they think about it.

If no-one gives out their names/addresses or any real personal info on the page that the Super Smash Bros. DS project is located (I mean, if there's another one), Nintendo's Cease and Desist couldn't really do much, could it? They could easily just continue and ignore it, all Nintendo could do is send more.

Why dont someone make a homebrew game instead?

The last SMB homebrew project was issues a Cease and Desist letter from Nintendo.

What are the concequenses if continued? I'd just give them a Cease and FUverymuch letter back...
And continue my project...

A subpoena and probably the loss of anywhere from 100,000 to 500,000 US for Copyright Infringements and Business Infringements. Other than that, if you can ignore it, nothing. Well, they could also look into Violation of Terms of Service with that Flash Cart of yours as well, but who's counting?
