Ok, I had heard before (dunno if it's true or not) that even when you close your DS and the screens go black and the sound cuts off, the DS doesn't entirely go into sleep mode. In fact, what I heard is that the battery drains just as much as if the DS was on. Is this true, or perhaps was it true in an old version of Sakura or even TouchPod? And is it still true to this day? Someone please clarify.

I've heard this many times as well. But even when I was using the default M3 firmware I could have it shut all day long (usually due to forgetting it was on) and not go dead. I sure as heck can't play it all day long.
