Skype has announced that the Skype Video and Voice calling app will hit the PlayStation Vita for FREE tomorrow. Skype app will be available for both 3G and WiFi PSVita models in the “Media & AppsSocial” category of the PlayStation Store from tomorrow the 25th of April.

The Skype app includes free Skype-to-Skype voice calling, as well as high quality video calling that utilizes PS Vita’s front and rear cameras. The Skype app for PS Vita also features a “background mode,” which allows you to run Skype while you are playing a game or using other apps, so you never miss a call.* Plus, with a little Skype credit you can make low-cost calls to landlines and mobile directly from your PS Vita.
Additionally, PS Vita is equipped with a 5″ OLED touchscreen, dual analog sticks, precise rear multi-touch screen, two cameras and a built-in microphone that can be used with any Skype-certified headset.

Guys, please try to stick to the subject, this is about the upcoming Skype app, which has NOTHING to do with any patches, exploits, or any firmware updates.

Thank you for your understanding.

They can't - it's not a system exploit and a system patch can't do anything about it. The moment a hacker finds a malfunctioning save struct nothing can be done other than re-compiling the game. The system itself doesn't do anything wrong - the only thing Sony can do is remove exploitable games from their store.

The Skype app for PS Vita also features a “background mode,” which allows you to run Skype while you are playing a game or using other apps, so you never miss a call. Plus, with a little Skype credit you can make low-cost calls to landlines and mobile directly from your PS Vita.

Please tell me that it also works using 3G and Dis phone-sole iz da best phone-sole evar.

doesnt M$ own Skype?
Wait, they did join didn't they? Weird.

I guess they don't mind since I can't see an XBox Portable on the horizon. Alternatively, Sony just bought a license to use the software seeing that PSP's were also equipped with Skype clients, just without video calls.

all they do is remove the game from PSN, patch the exploit and put it back on PSN. Nout to do with firmware.

nope, he actually was right
bugs are patched via firmware
http://wololo.net/wa...1-66-available/
the games put back up on the store are still exploitable if you're able to get them on a 1.61 vita (which this guy did via psn on his ps3)
http://wololo.net/ta...hp?f=52&t=11270

but thanks for being super negative and incorrectly calling out dragonmaster who as he said did research on the matter and knew what he was talking about, that was swell

I stand corrected myself - I was pretty sure that Sony doesn't fiddle with per-game patches.

Where the hell is the 3DS version?
Nintendo didn't want to pay royalties for using *DVD's*, you expect them to pay royalties for Skype? Surely you jest.

They'll make their own software that does the same thing, just slightly worse and with no infrastructure for landline/cellphone calls.
