Tutorial Simple Guide to Downgrading your 3DS

What is the preferred entry point that seems to have the most success?

I'm really late to this topic, but I'm trying to downgrade my 3DS to 9.2 U frimware from 10.3, but reading the tutorial, I am so lost and have no idea what I'm doing. This is my first time messing around with 3DS hacking so I have no experience with Homebrew, etc.
Would anyone mind too terribly walking a super newbie through?

Considering that I'm the biggest chicken on planet Earth, I have a couple questions before I want to do it:

1. If I follow every step correctly, is there still a chance that my 3ds will brick?
2. If there is, by your opinion, are the chances HIGH?

I have 2 different n3ds 9.2.0-20U's
One's from that iso site's mega thread thats recommended in the first post yet they're version's md5 is: E6339468A1E82B1D50E9222F017C0477

I found another I'm not sure if it was in a different thread there but it matches this threads OP: E5F40C3B155CFD12EF38BE35D2E81D2E

So which is truly 9.2? Why would the mega thread that everyone has referred to have a different md5 than everyone's posts here?

I don't know if this will help, but I went to this site http://3dsfirmware.blogspot.com/2016/01/mega-ciabin-mset-4x-6x-backups-browser.html and got the 9.2.0-20U

Thanks for the link but you might want to remove it so you don't get in trouble.
Sadly the 9.2.0-20U there has been removed :/ the page looks familiar to me though, maybe thats where I got my other 9.2 before.

Yes, it's called relearning your highschool shop class, buying a soldering iron, and start Hard modding it.

If you live near vancouver bc I can help you downgrade it. I have 100% success rate sofar and I modded 6 systems; 4 are N3ds and 2 are o3ds.

Only way is the hardmod way. And trust me everyones looking for a way to downgrade 10.5, you'll have to just sit back and play the waiting game.
My friends stuck on 10.5 right now and I'm currently going to start working on my solder skills because it's just 4 wires, and the amount of solder needed is small, you don't even got to pretin the pads on the motherboard, just got to pretin the wires. Honestly modding a 3DS doesn't look too daunting to me compared to say a PS2 or something. If you're serious buy some solder equipment and start practicing, never know when that skill will come in handy.

I tried downgrading my n3DS LL (Jap) from 10.3 to 9.2 but for some reason my system settings is showing that it's 9.1.0-20J.
I've tried running the downgrade again from here and it doesn't seem to install any missing files

Sounds like frankenware, you should be able to fix it. I saw a thread somewhere on here about it.

1. yes, but when it does, it will most likely be a soft brick. It can often be revived by downgrading again. It could also happen that you need to enter recovery and update to 10.5.
A hard brick should be almost impossible if you use the right files.

2. chances a pretty low with the right files

MD5 does not need to match the OP. It has to match the MD5 that is posted in the site you downloaded from. If you download from "that ISO site" it will not match OP.
This has been asked and answered many times. While I agree that this should be edited in the OP, please use the search function before asking. Otherwise this thread will be bloated, and that makes finding information even harder.

After searching the thread, someone on this thread says that 9.1 is what it's supposed to be for JP consoles.
Could this be related to the file that required remove prior to the downgrade? (since it's only JP consoles user)

I think everyone encounters that at some point. Just keep trying until it works, sometimes you might even encounters a black screen. If that happens then keep on trying. For me I tried about 10 times and it worked XD

to specify what things im using; im trying to downgrade from 10.5.0-30U to 9.0.0-20U on a 2ds. ive tried entering homebrew through the browser (i am not sure of the terminology, sorry) and i have just recently tried to use menuhax. i have tried entering ftbrony and exiting quickly, and ive made sure there are no odd files in the updates folder on my sd card. using windows 8. thank u for any help =)

You can't downgrade 10.5. Only 10.3 and lower.
