Thanks, found it. I didn't notice the tab "updating from A9LH" and simply followed "Installing with homebrewlauncher" an there were no secretsector.bin linked there.
By the way, does A9LH still exist? If I delete the .firm payload then I can still use the older Lumas with .bin payload right?
After installing B9S, no they won't work.

If you follow the "Updating to boot9strap" page, you will remove a9lh and will have to use the .firm payloads.

Yeah, he straight up said he was following the upgrade part of the guide ( I didn't link him to anything) and "select" brings him to the Luma config = A9LH install. The information I gave him after the fact was 100% accurate as per the guide, or basic troubleshooting. So I have no idea what you're talking about.

Yes, I have a9lh. I even went and found the guide I had used a few months ago to do it. Swapping in the new arm9loaderhax.bin on the root didn't actually seem to do anything. Still says I'm on 6.6. I don't know what's going on here. Nothing else has to be replaced to update luma?

did you use the correct file / made sure you are not booting from ctrnand?

CTRNAND Luma3DS perhaps?

What's the Luma3DS boot priority?

Nope, just the arm9loaderhax.bin. Are you sure you replaced it? Delete any arm9loaderhax.bins from your SD card, and then copy the new one over the root to be 100% sure.

Also, did you paste arm9loaderhax.bin into your CTRNAND when you first installed it? It could also be that your DS isn't reading it off the card, but from your CTRNAND.

EDIT: You guys are quick!! Lol

Sorry to be so much trouble. I don't know much about 3DS hacking, I had followed the guide here... http://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-install-a9lh-without-buying-anything-in-11-2.455588/

Yes I'm sure I had the right files, cleared old files from sd. I running whatever that set up. Is that ctrnand? I have no idea what the luma boot priority is but I'll check if you tell me how.

Ok, installed Boot9Strap on all my 3DS'es. Now, I know everyone here is tired of this question, but: Is the B9S setup absolutely immune to any patches Nintendo might try? Can they break Homebrew access beyond me needing a new payload? Can the method for installing B9S ever be patched? And lastly: Is SigHax/Boot9Strap truly the final and ultimate hack, which Nintendo will never be able to patch?

The boot priority just means it will look for arm9loaderhax.bin on the SD card before it will try to load it from the CTRNAND. If you followed that guide, step by step then you would have copied it there. However, if you put the correct version of Luma on your SD card, it should boot that, not the one in your NAND. If it is doing that, it doesn't seem to be reading it from your SD card. Are all your games and stuff showing up? If so, then your SD card doesn't seem to be the problem so perhaps a corrupted file..... Though if you're really using the correct release, it's the ONLY arm9hax.bin on your SD card, your games are showing up and it's still saying you're on v6.6 when you used the 7.0.5 release, then something else is going on entirely.

No. They could release a hardware revision, but that won't matter to you. They COULD send ninjas to brick it with a Brickway.
No, but see above.
Yes. See above.

Why are you following an old a9lh Guide? You should only be using the Bible of 3DS Hacking, The 3DS Guide.

So, just like A9LH, the only people affected by Nintendo's patches, will be people who haven't installed SigHax/B9S yet?

I tried booting up with arm9loaderhax.bin removed from my sd card and my stuff did not show up. I rebooted holding down select and I'm still getting a Luma3DS v6.6 config screen.

They can break homebrew, but smea pretty good about fixing it for N3DS. Also most things don't need homebrew anyway. So you're fine if you have B9S or even a9lh.

That means you're booting off the CTRNAND Luma3DS. It's still on 6.6.
Edit: Just put Luma3DS 7.0.5 on SD card and you'll be fine.
