Skyrim's map ported to the GBA in a bizarre tech demo showcase

Did you ever feel that Skyrim wasn't on enough consoles at this point? Well here's one more, and you probably didn't see this one coming. Uploaded earlier today, developer Atreus showed off the game's iconic map on the Game Boy Advance. Achieved using a custom 3D engine that makes use of Mode 4, you can find new appreciation for the game's landscape in all its pixilated glory. Though there is no real gameplay outside of wandering through the world, it does remain something of an impressive feat. Note the footage shown in the video was captured using the mGBA core of RetroArch.

The tech demo isn't currently available to download, but the creator did state they'd be happy to upload it if there were interest.

I think the guy making the playable Mario 64 remake for GBA is more impressive. He actually explains his work and all the tricks he uses. IIRC you can actually download that ROM too.

The Mario 64 remake is so awesome. Also the file is available and I explained a lot of it in this thread and the YouTube comments, y'all don’t read much here, lmao

I downloaded the demo and had a look and poke around in it, and while I do have to eat crow and/or humble pie in that it is real and does work, I still think it could look much better, even on the GBA.

I’ve been working on clouds and making the terrain look better :) what I posted was literally when I got it working, now I can work on improving it, glad to see it worked for you
