So I wanna play SSF4 online but I want homebrew even more.

Should I stay on Basic firmware?

If I go online will I need to update?

Also I know Supercard DSTWO works, is it safe to put mine in yet or should I wait and see how things roll out?

I'm using an acekard and I updated and it still works fine. From what I know the update was just some stupid music video it added.

The update makes your system more stable (no black screen crash) and it doesn't block anything. Do it.

The basic firmware might have a flaw that this one doesn't though.

I just want my homebrew asap when it happens.

Then don't update if you are worried. ATM no flash cart has been blocked or systems bricked after the update was applied. As for wanting HB "asap", there will be no 3DS homebrew for awhile. Unless you don't plan on playing any new games until the 3DS is cracked, you are going to have to break down and just do it.

I don't plan on playing anything until June/July(Ocarina of time)

I am hoping we will get Homebrew in the Fall or Early summer really, but no idea how long it can take.

You can run DS homebrew right now. If you are looking for a 3DS or DSi-mode homebrew on the 3DS, you are going to be waiting awhile (IMO).

I hope homebrew hits within 6 months really.

I cannot see it taking much longer with how active the DS homebrew community was/is.

We haven't even fully cracked DSi-mode yet and (from how I understand it) 3DS-mode has higher AP protection. Give it time.

Cyclo DS iEvolution has fully hacked DSi mode.

That is one device and it doesn't run in DSi mode on the 3DS as of yet. Also, that took over a year to develop.

So people have Acekard 2i working on updated EU 3DS? Good stuff I will update then, my Acekard should be delivered early next week from r4i-gold.co.uk, looking forward to not having to carry round both my ds lite and 3ds.

Actually it hasn't fully cracked it, it can only play a few DSi-enabled games.

The ones that don't run are incorrect dumps, and as for not having various features working in DSi mode (such as writing to SD), those weren't features of DSi mode anyways.
