Hardware Should I still buy?

You don't need to have it set on 3D, and some of the games look pretty good...but it all depends on what sort of games you prefer and what make you mainly stood by and enjoyed.

If you love games loaded with great graphics, long storylines, great sound (and now ALSO touch screen) - then NGP.

If you're a die hard fan of Nintendo and have enjoyed there stuff from year dot, you're not particularly bothered by graphics and all the fancy stuff (and are excited for their remakes and ports)..then 3DS (set on 2D). PLUS...it'll be cheaper

You could always purchase the 3DS and see how you feel about it, if it's not something you're really that happy about...trade it in for an NGP when that comes out.

Graphics at wii isn't good enough for significance?, other words you made 3DS graphics seem outright bad. How do you know about the sound? Plus you made it seem that 3DS can't handle/have long storylines. It isn't just remake and ports.

I played the 3DS at a preview event so i got a good idea on the sound.
And yes the 3DS graphics are still not quite up to scratch of the PSP in some cases...especially when it comes to the NGP. They have concentrated a lot on the 3D effect which is a bit here and there.

And i know it isn't JUST remake and ports..but that is a big factor as to why people want to buy the console, so they can play N64 or older classics out and about, without having to plug in their archaic console or emulate it.

I don't mind using an old console to play my old games. Also,

Wii=Emulating awesomeness. from NES to PS1, it can do just about anything classic fullspeed.

PS3 doesn't have NEARLY as many emulators (yet?).

Well with Sony cracking-down lately I don't see it happening in the near future.

I agree with you completely here.

On the latter line, however, is where people come to misunderstand things. Games as a whole have gotten better, but that doesn't mean just because a game is newer it's better. For instance, Final Fantasy IV is an amazing game IMO, the story, the enemies, the characters, so many things about it made it great. Final Fantasy XIII came out last year. Arguable, FFIV is the better game because it puts it's strengths at better use and doesn't try to do anything "revolutionary" gameplay-wise.

That's just because they decided to take a once great series that had some pretty nice stuff in IV, V, and VI (I, II, and III are pretty archaic nowadays and aren't real plot heavy) and just shit it up. Instead of making the games interesting they just realized that people like spiky hair and futuristic-but-now-futuristic crap and flashy visuals and threw those in there.

If you want examples of how gaming has improved over the years, just take Mass Effect and Red Dead Redemption. Mass Effect was able to construct a great lore and universe very easily along with deep characters and engrossing plot. I mean within a few minutes of playing the game you already understand how humanity got to this point as well as a good portion of the races and things like that. You can also just do every side mission and read up on every piece of writing the give you to get a huge understanding of alien cultures and the universe in general.

Red Dead Redemption just has a great sense of scope, great usage of environment and characters, and probably one of the finest usages of music in a video game I've seen. It was engaging and could make you feel like you're in the middle of a firefight or in the middle of a desert, alone.

I'm just saying that people who think gaming does nothing but go down hill are just trying to act like they're seasoned gamers.

I think you should not let the 3DS's lack of 3D for you from buying it. Just turn the 3D off and play it like a DS/PSP.

I most likely won't be using the 3D if it drains my battery too much anyways.

I have not played the NGP, but from playing the PSP comparing to the DS and the 3DS..i'd imagine the NGP may have improved the sound somewhat.

That said, I would like to see more good games, in recent years my passion for gaming has actually gone down. Red Dead and Mass Effect are great games, but I'd definitely like to see more games on par with them before we get into the next console generation.

Lol, what?! i didn't say it wasn't advancing at all actually, it's just developing a lot slower than Playstation's portable consoles, but this is because both gaming companies have different interests for their consoles...i think you should stop nit picking/trolling my comments, because you'll see we actually have the same view and you're obviously not translating it right. Ok i mention "not bothered by graphics" but that IS because the NGP graphics WILL be a lot better than 3DS (it is an upgrade to the PSP which already has sligtly better graphics) - it is a fact..and i'm not slating that...in fact I myself did not say that graphics are superior to gaming..it was just a bloody mention that most people who like really high end graphic games tend to go for Playstation...Geez.
