Is there updated tools for the new better version of the emulator that got released with the recent game update or the current ones work fine as before?

I've experienced a bizarre bug and I don't know what's causing it, but I have a pet theory:

Guardian Heroes initially loads and plays perfect. You can remap button configs and change settings, save and load states with no issue.

However, sometimes when I bring up the game it will get stuck on a black screen. I've seen it happen right after the generic saturn tribute logo (I'm using the injection script), I've seen it happen after going into story mode (but before the level is loaded) and I *think* I've seen it happen after selecting internal/cartridge memory right at the start.

When it does happen, the problem persists through quite a few application restarts. Deleting the saves always fixes it, but it also eventually boots normally even with the old saves.

Last night I had a play session where I restarted the game several times to see if I could trigger this problem, the only thing I did not do was save or load states.

I experienced no problems whatsoever. Could have been a fluke so I will try and come back with feedback if I see conditions changing.

Worth noting I am NOT using the 4MB option.

Hello everyone.

I'm trying to build a NSP for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night using the Cotton 2 NSP as the base, but all my results have met with failure because, while I can install the resulting NSP, when I try running it, it gets stuck on a black screen after the Nintendo and Switch logos disappear.

The script does throw me several warnings about key mismatches, even though I'm using a prod.key file I dumped after installing Cotton 2, so I don't know what I could be doing wrong.

EDIT: Okay, after digging a lot through the thread, I found the cause: it was because I was mistakenly putting in the no_data.tex texture in the script. More details in post number 1559.

Glad you got things sorted out. I also have a black screen on a game listed as working: All Japan Pro Wrestling Featuring Virtua. The notes mention using the Full Compatibility config file. Do you know if this is the one included in the script you used?

I think the config file you're looking for should be this one:

I've gotten some pretty serious burn-in with this playing guardian heroes, where, during the first level, the sprites for the flames persist and continue flashing after exiting the game.

This went away after a restart and a few minutes, but beware I guess.

I am playing Policenauts as my first multidisc game with Cotton2 emulator. Multidisc works like a charm: I simply have to save the game when the game says so, then it asks to change cd, I put the second disc .bin and .cue files in cotton folder on the Switch, rename the cue, restart the game and it picks from there. I wasn't sure until I tried.

On a different note: do you guys have any advantages with Overclock? I overclocked to the maximum, but I still have frequent audio degradation with Policenauts, and Dark Saviour before it was equally unplayable, with or without overclock.
I am using sys-clk and overclocking the Cotton2 application to the max... But it seems to make no difference.

Any advice?

The first patch on Cotton has new encryption, from my poking around it's somewhere buried in the main code/game data is using new encryption per game.

I wanted to look at this release but sort of figured it's the same encryption/hash checking/maybe I should have waited until they fixed the lag until I said shit.

hmmm you think the author did this on purpose due to how the homebrew scene took off with the emulator?

Hi all, I'm having a really hard time getting this to work. Currently I'm following the guide from this youtube video:

Whenever I get to trying to decrypt the nsp using XCI_NCA_NSP_v2, it will create a folder named nspdecrypted but the folder is always empty and I can't move onto the next step. I've been going at this for hours, trying different combinations etc. Nothing works. Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks

I haven’t done this in awhile, didn’t watch the video you posted but decrypt the nsp using XCI_NCA_NSP_v2 doesn’t sound familiar to me, page 74 is the guide you should be following, there is also the important post link near the page numbers if you want to read up on that.

they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling

even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling

They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.

i don't think nvidia wants to get in the x64 cpu market anyways
