I haven't had a chance to play for the past 3 months, and suddenly my Wii Remote isn't being recognized when I start a game via USB Loader GX. The Wii Remote has always disconnected briefly - you'd just press A or B for a moment and it would reconnect - but now the LEDs for Players 1-3 on the Wii Remote flash for a few seconds, and then nothing happens.

I haven’t made any changes to the Wii in the meantime, and I’ve already tried re-pairing the Wiimote in the Wii menu. When I launch the game from a disc via USB Loader GX, it works, but when I launch the backup via USB, it doesn’t work.

Does anyone know what else I can do to get it working again?

I just tried another Wii Remote, and it doesn't work either. But with this one, only the LED for Player 1 is flashing.
With some games, even the safety screen isn't showing - just a black screen.
I guess I'll have to try a different USB drive, but not today...

Im still running USB Loader GX v3.0 r1272.
And I also tried wiping all synced Wiimotes by holding the red sync button on the Wii for 15-20 seconds and then resyncing the Wiimotes again.

Hello,

Have you put new batteries in the Wiimotes?

Are they official Nintendo Wiimotes?
Yes, I had specifically put in fresh new batteries. And as far as I know, both Wiimotes are third-party rather than official, but in the last six years that I’ve been using them with this Wii, I haven’t had any problems with them (except maybe that, unfortunately, they aren’t recognized by Nintendont).

But in the meantime, I figured out what the problem was. There have been several power outages in this area over the past two months, and I thought maybe the SD card or USB drive that was plugged into the Wii - which was on standby during that time - might have become compromised. So I compared the contents of both with backups on my PC. In doing so, I must have accidentally grabbed a different adapter for the microSD card than the one I usually use with the Wii, and since then, everything has been working just like before.
So I think the adapter I’ve always used in the Wii is slowly giving out, and that’s what caused the error. I’ll probably have to get a standard SD card specifically for the Wii, because using a microSD card with an adapter is just asking for trouble.

Use a recognized brand SD card.

Use a recognized brand SD card.
It is/was a SanDisk SD card and adapter, so it should be more than enough. But even the best tech breaks down eventually.

Use the latest version of gx, which has the ability to sync wiimotes built right into it
I've actually been wanting to upgrade for a while now, but then I'd also have to install the new cIOS and uninstall all my WiiGSC forwarder channels, recreate them with the new WiiGSC mod, and reinstall them - and so far, I haven't had the time nor the motivation to do all that.

Upgrade to some real Wiimotes. Or even better, some Wii Motion Plus controllers. They work 100% of the time. I say this as someone who used to help people out in this forum and over on the Reddit one all the time with Wii issues. Those fake Wiimotes are a support nightmare and are not worth it.
