Hello! I hope you are well.
I’ve been working on strikers, a native port of Super Mario Strikers from a community decompilation. I have stable Windows, Mac and Linux versions running in the wild (with some decent coverage by dark side of gaming and such..) However; I’ve some experience with Switch ports (even discussed on here) and decided to take a crack at a Switch port for my latest baby.
I’m happy to report that I’ve had success. Strikers is running on the Switch, but I need testers. It’s rendering through Vulkan on Mesa's NVK driver, with the help of a fork of Aurora and Mesa itself. It plays full matches on my console at 60fps handheld, with a little dip during replays, but this is at a stock CPU speed.
## Requirements
- A Switch running Atmosphere
- A disc image dumped from your own copy of the game (ISO/GCM, CISO or GCZ. Note, I’ve only tested an American copy in my own testing, but other regions should work as they do with Linux/PC/Mac.)
No game data is included.
## Installation
1. Unzip strikers-switch.zip onto the root of your SD card.
2. Put your disc image in /switch/strikers/
3. Hold R while starting any installed game, then pick Strikers in the homebrew launcher.
## First launch
The first launch compiles shaders on the memory card screen for up to two minutes. Controls follow the Switch 2 release, and Minus shows a performance overlay.
## What to report
- Frame rate, handheld and docked (I haven’t tested docked physically yet. But it’s good performance overlocked in handheld. Rendering at 1080p.)
- Whether saving and loading work
- Whether closing from HOME and relaunching works
- Whether a controller connected after launch is picked up
- Any crash, graphical fault or audio problem
- Battery drain, worse than usual? Handheld is at usual clock speeds.
## Reporting a bug
1. Add log = 1 to /switch/strikers/strikers.ini
2. Reproduce the bug.
3. Post strikers-log.txt.
## Download
v1.9.9 temporary release, Switch only for testing purposes. I would kindly ask not to share it outside of this forum, or if you do. Please note it’s a pre-release build and likely to be buggy: https://github.com/new-coke/strikers/releases/tag/v1.9.9
Apologies for any mistakes. I worked hard today to get this working and it’s quite late posting this. I have a frantic weekend ahead but I’ll try respond when I can, addressing bugs in the coming week. Thank you!!
