I am on fw 3.3 NTSC and i have a hardmoded Wiikey

I found afew guides on gbatemp to getting 4.0 AND retain trucha signing and all the wad goodness but can some show me which guide is best?

I want my Wii to be USB Loader compatible + Hacked WADs on SD + ability to play trucha signed discs using fw 4.0

can any1 point me to the perfect working guide .. or create 1?


i especially want to know which program i should install 1st incase of brickage (extra security, even though i do have a modchip)

i'm in the same situation and would also like to know... what if any negative are there in 4.0 does everything work if patched properly??? and does it make id down gradable?

This is how I updated:
Installed cIOS rev 09
Installed a patched IOS 60
Updated through Nintendo
Ran IOS Downgrader to get back Trucha
Installed preloader in case my Wii ever gets bricked

After updating using the steps above, there are no negatives as far as I can tell. Other than the Twilight Hack won't work anymore. But that shouldn't matter if you install the Homebrew Channel before updating.

Yes, you can downgrade with cIOS downgrader

cool thank you for the info, if i can downgrade then i still have full control so i plan on doing this

just to clarify cIOS rev 09 is the same so for the usb loader... sorry I'm just nerves and don't want a big brick.... knowing my luck it will still happen lol
