Wow this project is still alive, and is surprisingly staying at 2 pages and is a year old? ::cheers::
Not all control codes work everywhere, sometimes they have unintended effects or do nothing at all - my testing with them was somewhat limited.Normmatt said:If you dont have time, pass the project and all related documentation/tools to someone else. or better yet release them to the public.
There's not really much more I can say in that regard. I haven't programmed any tools (though I was intending to, but in the meantime things were being done more or less manually or with tools already available, apart from some changes I made to the open-source script extractor romjuice to get stuff in wiki format). Text is encoded with shift-JIS encoding, text pointers are all throughout the rom within event code (you'll notice I've included the offset of every string in pointer format to assist with locating them, this is exactly how they should look when you open up the rom in a hex editor, but there is a possibility some strings are referenced differently or do not have a pointer in the same format). Certain 'fancier' interface text is likely in a graphical format, but I wasn't able to locate any and/or work out the format.
There are control codes that are used for styles and formatting, I think I identified them all. Excuse the format they're in.
