Hi there,

because Nintendo has decicded not to allow N3DS XL users to have custom shells we are stuck with decals to customize our beloved consoles. Now, I do intend to create my own custom decals on one of the decal sites that only goes on the outside of the console as I do quite like the black color of the device. I really only want to have small details (like a golden triforce) added to it so I would create the decal with the exact same BG color as the device itself. The website to build it requires me to input the RGB values, though. Since computer screens can be deceiving, I can't just hold up the N3DS to the screen and try to match the color, so does anyone know the RGB values of the regular, black N3DS or how one would most acurately find them out?

regards

As you said, computer screens can be deceiving. I can't think of a reason why the exact color code would be made publicly available, so I don't think anyone could give you a clear-cut number. There's plenty of room for error as far as getting a color, and printing it on a decal - you just can't be sure.

If you really want to be accurate, you'd need a really expensive camera with an extremely accurate lens, and/or a color correction specialist that could help you get the color closer to what it would look like.

But that's out of the realm of being realistic, so your best bet is to take a bunch of pictures with the best camera you have, start doing your own series of tests by comparing the pictures to the real deal, and trying to find the color that matches the best.

You won't be exact, but you'd get pretty close. I can't think of anything else you could do.

Hi, if you need to know a exact color tone, try to ask at a car bodywork shop, usually they have colorimetrics probes to get the closet matching components while working on paint. Most of the softwares gives results on pantone palette, which can be converted to RGB (in Photoshop for instance).
If you're really picky on this, it's the easiest, yet accurate and cost-free solution I see ;)

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
