Most of the console versions of Doom back then were based on the Jaguar version. That's why homebrewers have been able to port the missing levels to the 32X version - they're ripped from the Jaguar version.

The 3DO version was also based on the Jaguar version. The PS1 version was a port from the 3DO. The Saturn version (by far the worst official version of Doom) was ported from the PS1. Quite a chain.

Hi All,

Running the nightly from 18th March which appears to be working great on N3DS for the most part!

Just wondering if I can get help with a couple things:

1) In Mame 2000, when I run stuff, the sound gets distorted after a few seconds, then clear a few seconds later. This seems to continue throughout. Any idea what might be causing this distortion?

2) I notice there is an option to enable 'rewind' in Retroarch core, which is something I loved using on the PSP during NES emulation. When I enable it on the N3DS it comes up with an error about threaded audio. Any idea how this could be fixed?

Thanks for the help!

Can someone please help me with setting up DSP? I've dumped the DSP file and placed it under /3ds/, RetroArch now has a DSP option for when selecting audio driver. But when playing PSX games the audio is still crackling and I can't hear any difference than using the default driver. Is this correct or have I made a mistake somewhere?

In the best case scenario, there shouldn't be a difference from CSND. The point of using DSP is that the sound can now be generated by the DSP rather than the CPU (and all the added feature that entails).

The cracking is caused by other emulation issues. Framerate, etc.

the CSND driver is faster/better, the DSP option was only provided to allow for sound output when CSND isn't available (like when using xml takeovers for 3dsx, for example with MAME).

the DSP driver would have been better if it was being used for more than just simple sound output, but that isn't the case with RA currently.

My three main problems with RetroArch are as follows:

- Sound in (at least) some emulators get crackly when taken out of sleep mode
- All video is lost when resuming the emulator from the suspended home menu.
- gpSP randomly freezes or crashes the N3DS, forcing a restart.

I can confirm all of them.
Mostly the second one, that's the more aggravating issue. You can only hear the sound and you can move, but without ANY video at all.

Can't tell for the first point (I don't even know which of the ports are affected by this), but DEFINITELY on the second one. It's probably best to leave in sleep mode then if it doesn't work well in suspension.

Is any of you using an SDXC card (64GB or higher)
There is one random guy going everywhere with <|Shadow|> retroach needs SDXC supprt

But I don't see why would we need to change anything to support those.

That can't be true because I've used a 64GB Sandisk Ultra MicroSDXC Class 10 in my New 3DS ever since I bought the thing.

There's nothing to change, his card is probably just terrible or something. My Samsung SDXC has worked with RetroArch since it came out on the 3DS.

Had a 64gb since I got the system, now using a 128gb with no issues. Probably just his card.
