YES please this!! WiiU needs a file explorer :)

I tried many ways to make it work with the tools we have right now, but nothing works, i need to learn how to code SERIOUSLY! I cant live my life waiting for the hackers do things im probably the only one who wants them xD

I think the app needs to be updated to include the FIX94 library for Gamepad so we can inject it and use Classic Controller emulation... and to my head that its just like couple lines of code.. only if i knew how to :'(

We're probably not the only one who want this but we are the vocal minority :P
I couldn't even get the Wiixplorer source to compile (without any changes) :P I'm really not cut out for coding ;)

Yes definitely, the Gamepad patch would be great. I already made a Channel for it. But with out the Gamepad patch I'm reaching for the Wiimote every time I want to change something on the SD card :/ the problem is i's not just a matter of changing a few things here and there to get it to work Fix94 did alot of work to get WiiU Gamepad to work on the GX Emulators, so it would take quite alot of effort to get it working on Wiixplorer. But worth it imo in the longrun :)

OMG I'm sooooo glad I found this thread, and that it's only 7 1/2 months old. Hopefully you guys still want this, along with many others, because I'm trying to look into it now.

I'm a pretty experienced C/C++ coder so that's not the issue for me, rather it's just getting used to the SDKs and APIs available for the Wii U. Trying to learn just by reading others' code is extremely difficult (at least for me) when you don't even know what WHBLogConsoleInit is, let alone how to use it.

So where on Earth can I find some decent documentation that clearly explains the entire wut API? Not just the names of the libraries and the functions within those, but something more verbose? Using CMake to create a doxygen config file from the CMakeLists.txt that can be found on the wut GitHub repo, then running the config file though doxygen to create the docs myself took this doxygen & CMake n00b around 3 hours, only to discover that a lot of functions still have no description defined!

I've found @QuarkTheAwesome's ProgrammingOnTheU guide on GitHub (BTW Quark you ARE awesome! :D) but it's not quite complete yet. So any help to find any further resources like that would be greatly appreciated :)

I knew there had to be some other ppl out there like me who hate having to constantly switch the SD card between console and PC, so I'm glad I found you guys! Peace out B-)

Hey there, sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm not sure this has been properly addressed. WiiUShell is all fine and dandy, it needs some work and it's rough along the edges, but this program simpily rocks. And there hasn't been a good realese with proper Pro Controller support. I've done some digging and found some to try, one made by @daxtsu and one by dimok789. But for some reason those two, when your exiting back to Homebrew, it takes you back to 1.1.2 (old) instead of 1.1.4 (new, with pro controller support). The versions without Pro Controller support exit to 1.1.4 (do you see where I'm going with this?). And also added Ustealth support would be nice as well. I don't have the know-how to do any of this stuff, but I'm sure there's some talented folks here that can.

Bumping again. I just realized that the version of WiiXplorer that does have WiiU Pro Controller support returns to it prvious loader if you hit "Exit" (which is Open Homebrew Channel wth Pro Controller support for me) as opposed to hitting "home" menu and exit to the original Homebrew Channel (with no Pro Controller support). I also discovered that the Wii U only see's one hard drive at a time, so two hard drives can't be seen at one time. So I loaded the version of WiiXplorer with Ustelth supported, and after I unplugged my Wii U hard drive, it read it like dream. But only with the Wiimote, no Pro Controller. Which I hope you all see my problem now.

So again I ask. Is there anyone out there that can take the WiiXplorer that supports the Pro Controller and add Ustealth support, or in vice versa. It would help for me to use the Pro controller and not have me dig out a different controller. Help to steamline things. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

For transferring I mainly just FTP everything it's faster and no navigation required on Wii U if that helps but it all depends what you need it for

Yeah FTP works if I'm transferring files from my phone to my Wii U, but WiiXplorer has that too. Plus thers a version that has Ustealth support, and another with Pro Controller. I just would like to have one version with both.

Edit just to add. I just messed arund a bit using tehe Wii U FTP apps. It apears that I can't seem to copy files from the SD card to an NTFS hard drive, like a new Wii image or something. Something that WiiXplorer does with ease.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
