I recently replaced my switch’s left joycon rail since the original one was very tight to the point that getting in/out the joycon will make you think that the joycon might be damaged overtime.

I replaced it with a new part, with all the disassembly stuff ofcourse. Now the left joycon slides in without any trouble, but the thing is switch doesn’t detect it as docked. It does charge the joycon, but having this problem, I can’t play on handheld mode now because when i open any game, it asks me to either dock both joycons or play tabletop.

I tried all those fix i found by googling it, unsyncing it, then docking it again, disconnecting the controllers then restarting etc etc to no avail.

Hope someone can help me.

Did you unplugged a buttery before changing it? Try to clean ribbon cable with IPA make sure you din't have any debris stuck in it.

Spent all night testing my one, looks like there is several traces in to the internal layers of PCB got blown... mb because it was not handled well in to the disassembly process...
Problem with my switch looks like it's a brand new one and i can't pass joy con connection screen for initial setup...

If your left joy con was working before you swapped the rails, then it sounds like you didn't put it back properly?

As a test, put the old rails back and see if it works? If it does, good, now put back the new rails, if it still doesn't work, then maybe the replacement rails is faulty.

Mmm, only thing I can suggest if you have access to a LEFT joy con from someone to test?

I had issues with my LEFT joy con, only charges but wouldn't connect, but I didn't replace the rails as I didn't have access to one at the time and I would have had to order it.

I went into my local games store where they were selling second hand joycons and asked if I can test one out, and it worked straight away, so my joy con was the issue, ended up buying the second hand joycon. I didn't have any friends that had switches so couldn't test.

Did either of you manage to fix this? it's the right joycon not being detected in my case, it doesn't charge either. New rail, new connector lots of IPA but nothing. It had some minor water damage, it's stuck on the attach joycon screen so cannot test further.

Sorry to say, your joycon is stuffed, my old joycons, I did the same, still no good. I went to my local games store where they had pre owned joy cons and asked if I can test one to rule out if it's the Switch or the Joycons, and in my case, it was the joycons. Yes they are expensive piece of controllers.

If you can something like this in your area or know someone with joycons so you can test.

The joycon is fine, I've tried two known working ones. It's a switch motherboard issue.

Well it would have been NICE to include this info in your original reply so people know where your at, instead of assuming.

If it's a motherboard issue then that is out of my scope to assist you, it could be that your minor water damaged joycons shorted something on your switch.

Good luck, and worst case scenario, find yourself another hackable Switch.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
