Hacking Remove Wiikey 1.9 first?

In order to play some of the newest software I'm going to need frimware 4.2 but I'm aware that having a wiikey fitted might make this impossible. Should I remove my wiikey chip first and then use an SD card based hack instead? Or is there any way to switch off the wiikey temporarily?

You don't need to remove the wiikey... it will stop being able to play out-of-region games from the disc channel, but that's about it.

THe better question, is wtf do you want to do that needs 4.2? There is no reason to update, at all.
