[RELEASE] Sonic CD for PS Vita

51T81wVqC4L._SY355_.jpg

Following the full disassembly of Sonic CD from the amazing work of Rubberduckycooly, I am releasing a port of Sonic CD running natively on PS Vita.

The porting is pixel-perfect and it basically runs on an internal resolution of 480x240 upscaled by 2x. This is an unofficial port, meaning that I forked the original source code and modified it to make it running on PS Vita. I am already in contact with the original author to integrate my changes on his repo.

Please follow the instructions on the release page to make it work. The VPK itself does not contain any copyrighted assets. It's not 100% perfect but it's fluid enough to be fully playable.

Thank you! Pixel perfect is definitely incredibly important for a port of a 2D game. There are so many 2D sprite games on Vita that I want to like on Vita but that aren't pixel perfect and have jarring, uneven pixel width, like Bloodstained Curse of the Moon and all sorts of other Unity engine games.
So this is going to be merged into the other port that was done in the last couple of days, for a "best of both worlds" port? Sounds great, long live the Vita

I became aware of the other port just a couple of hours before this post, but I decided to continue to push mine forward. I contacted SonicMastr, the author of the other port, to merge both of our code bases to the original repository. I believe that with both mine and his codebase we can reach the best version!

I don't pull out my Vita much these days, but it's still really cool to see the love people have for a good old Sonic game like this. Thanks for your work!

I'd use this, but my Vita and PS4 both run off the same master PSN account. So if I hacked my Vita and it got flagged that's my entire library disabled. Probably not worth the risk, right?

Maybe this will finally convince me to hack my Vita.

Here:
It's a 20 minute guide I used to permanently hack my Vita. I didn't know anything about Vita hacking and just blindly followed this, now my Vita is able to run English patched PSP Japan exclusive RPGs and obscure Japanese PS1 games. It is awesome.

I'm not guaranteeing you anything but I'll just say that I have my PS Vita hacked and it uses the same account as my PS4 with hundreds of purchases. I have yet to face a problem.

Trust me, I tried following text tutorials, but there too many technical stuffs to understand. Just follow this video exactly and you'll have your Vita hacked in 15 minutes.

I have a bookmark on how to hack a PS3, didn't even start the video and it has been years.

Video tutorials just don't work for me. I find them extremely irritating.

What do you find frustrating about them? I find them very useful.
