Mine has been failing with the build previous, so what did you end up doing with you data folder/firmware.bin installation to get it running on your n3ds?
Create a data folder within the rxTools folder and rename firmware.bin to 0004013820000002.bin.

I have the same issue with my N3DS. The build that works with MSET for me is https://www.dropbox.com/sh/blmecish...yUgutkmOzma/rxTools_08-12-15.6d36ec6.zip?dl=0.

Yeah, that build worked for me too, minus the fact you need to replace all the rxTools files after every successful boot.

You need to use the rei-to-rx.py script that was posted a few pages back, then rename the resulting firmware.bin to 00040138200000002.bin. Then put that file in your data folder.

Patching the Rei firmware.bin and renaming was actually the first thing I tried, and only ever got a blue I on the bottom screen.

I don't have to replace the files after every successful boot.
After further testing, you appear to be right. I can get it to boot pretty consistently, as long as I'm really quick to launch it.
If I tap the settings app as soon as the homescreen loads, and then the profile buttons as soon as they load, I can boot without replacing any files or re-running the ROP installer.

I wonder why the latest build doesn't work with MSET
