My Switch strangely lost all my save games... so I went back to my last SD card and the saves were there. So I used Checkpoint and backed them up, and moved them to check point folder on the newer SD to try to restore them. When I boot up with the newer SD it does not show the restores.

How to I move these saves to my NEWER (larger) SD card from the smaller one ?

Please give me some ideas here, I have over 25 hours in games and really don't want to start over...

I have Atmosphere 0.10.4, FW 9.0.1, and I have Checkpoint Version 3.6.0. I cant back up my saves because touching Backup (L) doesnt work, pressing the - and + buttons dont work neither. I assume I have an outdated version?

I'm having this issue as well, none of the inputs work other than touchscreen. I cannot backup my saves :(

You can now use Tinfoil to backup/restore your game saves.
It is working well on SX OS 3.0.3 and FW 10.0.4

Any word when we'll see the next release? It's been 9 months, and there have been some cool changes in the meantime, like sorting games by most recently played, a feature I'd love to use.

Thanks!

I am using ams 14 / ofw 10.0. I have the same problem with you guys that touching the backup button doesn't work so I go to deepsea toolbox and reboot. Now all my games seem to be disappear and i have to reinstall games again. Anyone has the same issue?

It would be a good idea to point out that the developers of Checkpoint don't like SXOS and, to that end, made design choices that had the effect of making it unusuable on SXOS.

As of Checkpoint 3.2.0 it no longer would work properly on SXOS, only allowing the first 20 games to be backed up. As of 3.2.4 controller input was unresponsive entirely. As of 3.5.0 it caused system crashes. Using older versions of Checkpoint worked until around 9.x after which point Checkpoint ceases to be a viable option. Anyone who was relying on Checkpoint will have already encountered problems and risk loss of everything if they continue to use Checkpoint.

This is concerning because, rather than forcing everyone to use Atmosphere like they appear to want, it just fractured the save backup scene. Now SXOS has it's own "SX Save Manager" which will go it's direction while Checkpoint will go in a different direction entirely. That means we'll soon see incompatibility in save editors and an impossibility in migrating from one OS to the other - so even if someone wanted to switch to Atmosphere they probably won't be able to anymore. Unless, of course, either Checkpoint or SX decides to support the saves of the other group.

Regardless of how anyone feels about one OS or another, that's not a good development. Combine with the fact that Checkpoint appears to have stopped development entirely and it's going to be even worse.

As a side note, I'm curious: To those of you who are capable of using both SX Save Manager and Checkpoint, are the saves interchangeable at this point at least?

Yes, unfortunately, that will never be fixed. I reported that issue as an SXOS user and they blamed SXOS rather than considering that it may have been a problem with their software. It doesn't surprise me that atmosphere users are affected.

For SXOS users with this issue: If you have a backup of an emuNAND older than 9x and can find a version of Checkpoint older than 3.2.0 you should be able to restore your saves that way and then could use SX Save Manager to create new backups that will work on the latest firmware.

Unfortunately, since you can't restore games via Checkpoint that didn't already create a save you won't be able to use this trick on any game that doesn't work on Switch FW 8.x

I like to create a backup of my emuNAND every time I update and I save those backups so I can roll back if I ever need to.

I may miss it but how do you install checkpoint? Is there a video on how to install it? I do have the hbl on my switch

If you are on SXOS, don't bother. It no longer works. When it did work, however, you would have gone to Homebrew Launcher and selected the NSP and then open it. No install required.

Checkpoint 3.2.0 released! Check the repository on github for changelog and downloads :)

and that was the beginning of the end for Checkpoint...

Hi, I've been having issues with the cheat codes feature since I installed two games (Okami & FF XII) yesterday. The console crashes each time I press (R) on a game to see the cheat codes list and I have to reset. Is there any known issue with one of the games I just installed ?

So, I'm on SXOS 3.1.0 FW10.2.0 and backup/restore seem working just fine (I don't touch the cheat function), BUT I got a weird issue that those save backup folders I created sometime are invisible (saves I made previously on atms are fine)??? I can't find them under checkpoints/saves/"titleid", tried with NXshell, NXexplorer, goldleaf, connect to pc FTP,use sdcard reader... I just can't find them (hidden files and hidden system files are revealing on my PC)..., but they're still show up in checkpoint app and I can still restore/backup normally

how do i install this on the switch?
You must be running CFW on your Switch.

After edidting the save my game tells me the the save file is corrupted and then deletes it
The edits you made might have been too extreme, or you're editing the save file improperly. Which game? Are you using a save editor?

Sorry if this was asked before, couldn't find it.

I just changed from SX OS to Atmosphere on my Switch Lite, and decided to make a clean EmuMMC instead of porting the SX OS EmuNAND. I backed up all of my saves (Checkpoint seemed to be working fine on SX OS) but they're not showing up to be restored on Atmosphere. No changes to user profiles, but I did update from 10.2 FW to 11.0.1. Any ideas on why that might be?

How did you go about creating the new emunand? Did you format the sd card?

My EmuNAND was in file mode, not as hidden partition. I just saved the backup files from checkpoint on my PC, then went into the SX OS boot menu and deleted it. After that I cleaned the SX OS files, put the SX Tools in its place and proceeded to Hekate.

--edit--
To make the process clearer, what I did was:
  1. Backed up my save games on SX OS Emunand using Checkpoint
  2. Copied these files to my PC
  3. Using the SX boot menu (holding Vol+ on boot) I deleted the EmuNand
  4. Got into my clean SysNand and updated to 11.0.1
  5. Cleaned up most files on the SD card (did not format it, it's Fat32 btw) and copied the files for Hekate+Atmos+SX Tools (did not use Spacecraft-NX)
  6. Created the EmuMMC on Hekate using the partition method
  7. Booted Atmosphere, ran Incognito
  8. Copied my saves from the PC
  9. Ran the games for the first time so Checkpoint could see them
  10. Checkpoint won't read the old saves, made sure they were in the right folder too

So I guess this is the end? No update in almost 1 1/2 years, and it's no longer compatible with the latest Atmosphere (0.19.0).
Shame, this is THE most essential homebrew to me because it does what Nintendon't. Are there any other (up to date) homebrew save managers for Switch?

Give it time. Ofw 12 broke alot of homebrews. So they need to be updated/recompiled

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
Karma177 @ Karma177: @The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really...
