Hacking Red Switch Screen Question?

Hi all,

I would imagine there to be a very simple answer to this noob question, but I have recently updated my con usb loader from v52 to v60 manually,
and I seem to have lost my nice Red Switch with IO on it to a bland black and white lettered loading screen, how can I get my Screen back please, all I updated was the .dol but i never touched my config file. and I also updated the configurator program.

any ideas please chaps...

I thought 60 still used the default intro, but if your on 61 then it has new intros (and for some reason the default one has been changed to an ugly one, irked me too)

Anyway:

* Selectable intro:
intro=0 : black - only allowed when direct game launching
intro=1 : black bg with program name (small)
intro=2 : color image [default]
intro=3 : grey image
This option only works if set in meta.xml

Intro=3 is the one I prefer. Of course if your using an older forwarder you have to update it to one that supports meta.xml

Thanks for that info crass, but where would i place the info "intro=2 : color image [default]" my forwarder is USBLoaderCFG_Forwarder-UCXF.wad, and that has been perfect up until i updated my config dol to cfg60-222.dol.

i have an meta.xml within my Y:\apps\USBLoader folder and it reads like this:

Add this to your meta.xml file so that it is with in the [app][/app].

Thanks crass, updated config again, tried replacing your details within my meta.xml but all i get is a red CGL, (sorry if i have the wrong letters), so i tried to just change it to

intro=2 (this line here from 3 to 2 and still same thing red letters in centre of screen (no more switch)



any more ideas maybe please...

Well I have tried all number of numbers,

intro=2



It doesn't make a blind bit of difference still get the large red letters in centre of screen that says cfg.....

has the red switch screen gone forever, cos if it has my 5year old is gonna be very very annoyed..... lol


If anyone has any ideas, they would be very much appreciated.

p.s. tried configurator v61 and that constantly says theres an error on line 0....

and thats after trying to load

After 4 hours it looks like i'm going back to v52 sadly...

Try launching cfg loader directly from the homebrew channel, older forwarders ignored the meta.xml file. If it loads with the intro you want via homebrew channel then update your channel. Or just update to 61b.

Well I updated to latest beta,....... then my second effort was to run directly from HB, but still the same large CFG.

Totally at a loss as to what to do now...

It doesn't make sense that a forwarder can cause these problems, if a forwarder does the same job as if you ran directly from HB.

Just wondered chaps if it could be my forwarder causing the problem, my original forwarder was called USBLoaderCFG_Forwarder-UCXF.wad but I don't know what version it is....

all I can tell anyone is that the size is 2898kb, I have downloaded the latest of which i think is made by the same person USBLoaderCFG - UCXF - IOS58 v5.wad but it is only 680kb thats a big difference?

How would I go about deleting my old forwarder, as i don't really want two forwarders on my main menu.

The forwarder I have at the moment is blue in color, looks a little like matrix screen, it has a changing set of icons from a usb icon to two letters "SD" with the word Configurable USB Loader above.

would USBLoaderCFG - UCXF - IOS58 v5.wad give me the same appearance, it's not for myself but it would make life easier for my 5 year old who is used to seeing it.. lol

Does anyone have a pic available of it or a utube vid of it possibly....

p.s. I am assuming this would make the meta.xml work if I installed this version.
