I don't want to spend money on other things, but I have a camcorder with an HDMI cable and the RCA cables. Is there anyway I can record Wii gameplay?

Damn, if you would have worded the title differently, I would have told you to aim the camcorder at the Wii System or the game cases and press record....

Basically this is the only way. I doubt anyone got a Dazzle/Hauppuage/EasyCap just by rummaging in their basement.

However, you may have a camcorder that accepts composite in, and the quality is actually pretty nice. Though most camcorders today only have output.

Actually, when reading that thread title, I had a mental picture of someone holding a toaster in front of his TV (that is showing some wii game footage), wondering if he could record his game with it.

On a more serious note...I don't know how well it'll work, but isn't it possible to play a wii game (fullscreen) in dolphin, and record that screen with a program like fraps?
You're probably going to need a fast computer for that, though.

If you have an Android phone with Android 1.6 and up with a outward facing camera, you could use that and the Justin.TV app to stream your gameplay footage.

If you are a cheep n00b that uses a camcorder, you better make sure that you reduce glare as much as possible and that you use an LCD TV and angle your shot correct, and make sure that you can record audio. Then you better put the footage into Windows movie maker and do some good editing...or else your Youtube video might get "reviewed" by Retsuparee!

  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful

Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.
