recommended Graphics cards

My PCI express ATI x850 XT pro i believe(maybe platinum) is dead


so i want to replace it. Whats is the cheapest graphic that can be comparable to that because i seen X1600 around 100 bucks sometimes

Get a PCI-Express, if your motherboard support it?

X1650 would be a good decision. An X1950Pro if you could afford it is better. But for a good price, nothing beats the eVGA GeForce 7600 GT.

also i have an CRT monitor. Is there a DVI convertor for the crt wires

one will probably come with the card, they cost maybe $2 at best buy. DVI to VGA, one came with my X800 (i have my second monitor hooked up to dvi with the vga adapter)

I would make sure whatever you get supports SM 3.0. I've seen some newer games that require it (like Rainbow Six Vegas) and I bought a X850XT a few months back and its 2.0 so it wont run that game and any others that require it. There arent many right now but it might be a trend from the new games coming out.

the only game i plan on playing thats is gfx demanding is Spore

but otherwise im low demanding

photoshop, maybe play around with maya or 3Dmax

good choice
i am running 2x evga 7600GTs in sli
handles fear, HL2 ep 1, quake 4 etc no problem at 1680x1050
i would hold out until the ati directx 10 cards come out then im buying a new c2duo/vista rig for crysis/UT3
