in the exterior the "B" units comes on a plastic translucent box, the "plus" version comes on a white cardboard box.

you can only to know the version with the print inside the board:

I believe you can tell by the packaging it comes with. I have a transparent box and it's not the "plus" but the "one B"

Thank you both!
I think mine came with a transparent box, but I'm not 100% sure.
Although, I recall updating to Hekate 5.6.0 and Atmosphere 1.2.6 this week, and specifically updating the Hekate payload on the RCMLoader dongle, and it booted up just fine, so this might be a clear indicator that mine doesn't require the update.

I think the easiest way to tell, despite the packaging, is by doing just that.
Updating the Hekate payload to 5.6.0. If the Switch boots with it, you don't need to update the firmware.
However, if it doesn't, then yours is the (White box) model, which requires the firmware update.

That way it could help people avoid the brick.

For me the history is:

brought a RCMLoader One Plus V2 (White cardboard box), at first it worked fine, I was able to inject hekate_ctcaer_5.6.5.bin as payload. Then I did try to add others payloads and get a strange error, because pressing the "+" button only could change the payload to Green one, pressing again only show green light, try to format the drive as FAT and extract the file downloaded from: on to the fresh formatted drive, then ejected the drive but pressing the + button give me nothing, no light no flashing, nothing!.

I did press the reset button but no luck, connecting the unit to the computer but no USB Mass Storage drive is detected, only a HID device.

after almost 1 hour the updater is stuck on:

The "Downloading !£" keeps scrolling but no progress is made.

After disconnecting the unit from Computer, blue and green light keeps flashing.

Anybody knows how can I unbrick the unit? thanks a lot for your help

try to contact the support at the email on they support page, but get no delivery. and I can not use QQ so no contact has been possible.

Does anybody have a full updater wich reformat the USM drive, I think that cause the brick.
I have the exact same issue, update goes to 20% and hangs there with the £ signs showing
did you ever get this fixed ?

If you two @impeeza and @fatattack and anyone else enocounter this issue, here's what I did to fix it:
I was stuck at 10% for over an hour, and in the website manual on step 4 it says "Click and tick “auto download”." I ended up skipping that step, leaving that box unticked, and when it said "Connected" in green text over the "Download" button, I clicked "Download" and it finished in less than 8 seconds and the green text now said "Pass".

for me was Windows 11, I did create a Windows 10 virtual machine and connect the RCM Loader to It and the upgrade process end well.

Before the virtual machine tested on a Windows 8 laptop and works, so I did think about the VM.
