I have problem with the link given on wiki, the 'Security Code' image won't load and I can't add the numbers I need to add in order to download, I tried with both Mozila Firefox and Internet Explorer, without a success, and so I asked like 12 friends to try downloading, they all get the same problem, how about someone reuploads to sendspace/4shared/megaupload/rapidshare or smth...

NDSTool can be found here:
It's also integrated into dslazy/dsbuff =P

No idea how you're supposed to make a patch with it, though.

Something like that:QUOTE
Decompress rom
Replace files
Compress rom

I think that it'll be easy for anyone.

Do you want that I'll do the patch for you?

To the best of my comprehension that unpacks and repacks a rom... I am fairly sure that the translation team has no intentions of spreading translated roms throughout this topic.

if you want to make the patch smaller you can try "repacking" the rom with nitroexplorer.
it's designed to make as little change as possible to the original rom, so the patch should be no bigger than the combined filesize of all modified files.

tough it is a bit slower in use, since you have to replace the files 1 by 1(it doesn't unpack/repack the rom but instead replaces files within the rom)

That's what I did in the first patch, but it really takes time, since RagnarokTrans has to convert all the unicode files back (Which takes some time in my PC) and imagine what would happen in a major update...But again...the patches produced with that method are really small.

I think that the patch could do it.
I don't say that we spread translated roms or something similar :S

Compile a patch with DSLAZY then and prove me wrong.

Distributing a bunch of translated files and saying "build the rom yourself" is not exactly the same as making a patch. And considering the number of people who can't even figure out how to drag and drop, it's not really a viable solution...

It's not *impossible* to do it this way. You could let users
1. Unpack the rom
2. Apply the patch to the unpacked folder
3. Repack the rom
For step 2, a utility like Patch Maker is perfect for creating patches (creates executable patches). The resulting patch is probably a lot smaller, because the difference in files doesn't have so much data shifting. Of course, it's a 3-step process instead of 1, making it more "difficult" for some people.

Unless a tutorial with pictures of every step is made... I guarantee you that 70% of the people won't be able to do it.

Couldn't you just create a batch file?

To invoke ndstool to unpack, copy the files manually, and then repack? I suppose that would be possible, albeit much slower.
