Ragnarok is coming stateside this winter. Cheers for the fans!

QUOTE said:
This winter, Ragnarok Online DS is coming to North America thanks to Xseed. The portable game is based on the Ragnarok Online universe and expands it with a stand alone adventure starring Ares, an orphan who turned into an adventurer as an adult. Ares and Sierra, a girl who lost her memories, set out to save the world.

New content for Ragnarok Online fans include extra classes like the Dark Knight and Shaman.

The “online” portion of the title refers to the Tower of Mirages, a series of randomly generated maps with 50 floors of rare items. Three players can meet up wirelessly and slay puffy slimes with touch screen commands.

Hearing that Xseed picked up Ragnarok Online DS tells us another subtle bit of information. GungHo developed Ragnarok Online DS for Japan. So, Xseed is making publishing deals with GungHo. GungHo is working on a PSP remake of Lunar. Xseed said flat out they picked up a PsOne remake…

A very stupid move on their part.

What are you talking about? I love 30 minute introductions filled with talking.

SO NOT SARCASM
Well, I wouldn't say that's the reason... It's just that it's aimed at RO players, and RO isn't very popular in NA. I hope they're not expecting good sales from this one.

It's actually quite popular worldwide. Even in NA I believe. Private servers and original servers have many players from NA playing on them. But what they don't see is that, possibly a lot of the NA players which play RO doesn't have a DS.

Unrelated, I really liked that roguelike DOS game called valhalla or ragnarok. whenever I search for that game, i generally get results for ragnarok online....

someone needs to make DOS games work on the ds, outside of ds2win...

This game looks pretty nice.... I'm looking forward to it

But I would prefer localization of some other quality titles like Inazuma Elven and the Tales of games....

@dongdrian: Nice new name....

Xseed can translate this but not Game Center CX 2?
They should be able to do both >.<

I played RO back in its free beta days.
VEry very slow progression.
Though the music was top notch.

I've played a little bit of the Japanese one and it stays true to most of the RO things but actually gives it a bit of a story for once.
Also it should have local and online play I think. Just not Online MMO play.
Atleast I think anyway, I never got far enough to find out.

The game should make some decent sales in the US I predict.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

  • Veho @ Veho:
This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
