Hacking R4i 3DS firmware issue

Hi all,

Well i dont have idea how to get out of this!! my friend updated my dsi to 1.4.5 and is not reading my r4i 3ds. I have tried too many things, i deleted everything and added the last firmware but is not working.

it does not even show me the option to update the firmware. no matter what i try it keeps showing me the same message: An error has occurred please hold power to shut down problem... and yes before to post this i searched a topic regarding this but nothing helps.

Actually it is just let me go to the store, configuration and the other options that the ds has and a friend of me told me that i will need a DS lite to make it work !!

Pls any help will be welcome!

you need to apply the update (which requires running the file) on a console that it isnt blocked on
copying the files to the MicroSD does not update the firmware of a card

thx for the reply, but it does not allow me to run anything!! just from the menu the store, the configuration.. but once i click on the games it just display An error has occurred please hold power to shut down problem

as i just told you
it cannot run on a blocked console
you need to run it on a console it is not blocked on to apply the update

is there even an update of the regular R4i ?

A relative of mine updated his 3DS and trying to find a new Firmware for his card is a chore because the R4i won't recognize it ( if you goto uptade it simply shows you "no update").

He has the R4i that comes packaged in a red small box.

Is called R4i 3DS (also has a wifi symbol on it)

There is no "normal" R4i, all the R4i carts are made by separate people.

Anything for his cart would come from the site printed on it.

If it's not on the site, it's not anywhere.

The problem is:

Back when the card was bought there was only the one version "R4i 3DS"

Now there are four versions.
- R4i-SDHC 3DS (RTS written in the picture, which mine doesn't have
- R4i-SDHC (with 1.45 or 1.4 written beneath)
- R4-SDHC
- R4i-SDHC

The first ones are the one that would make sense... but don't have an update in them seemingly.


I tried all of them, however none actually shows up as an update on his card.

This whole ordeal makes me happy I dropped tinkering with those R4 cards a long time ago...

R4-SDHC is well-known for dropping carts. If there's no update from the team, then there's no update. You can try adding or increasing/decreasing the number at the end URL of the download page (download, download1, download 2, etc).

Sadly that method already failed.

Oh well at least he got it for 12 bucks.
