Hacking r4DS + YSmenu - some questions

Hi all.

First i like to introduce myself:
My name is : Dave de Paus
I Am from: Holland
And i am: 17 years old
i love sports like fitness and jiujitsu, i'm training 5 days a week.

Than some questions:
Because the lack of updates provided to the r4ds and the incompatability of some games i am thinking to use YSmenu.
But i read things about it doesnt support homebrew and about a fake killer?
Now i know YSmenu is based of the DSTT and i am using an R4DS so that does mean it will kill my R4 because it isnt a DSTT right?
And i like to know if i can use the save file's from the R4.

You won't have to worry about the fake killer. It may prevent the software from working properly, but at least it won't brick your R4 or DS. You can also remove the fake killer with some kind of tool or download a cracked version which doesn't include the fake killer at all.

About homebrew support: it's not as good as that of the original R4 software, but it's not bad either. You could probably use some kind of loader like DSOrganize to make all homebrew work.

Oh and also, can i use my slot2 card with this? I own an Ez Flash 3in1

R4YSAuto/YSMenu will not brick your R4 / R4Clone or any card/clone as far as I know.

You won't need to get the normal and update files. The update is for updating from 0.0 or 0.0.1. If you download just the normal download you'll be fine.

If you got it from the Japanese page, yes it's the latest.

I just gave it a try, its says it can not find the zip where YSmenu is located
I am using YSauto v0.2 and YSMenu0901190111

It is telling me that YSAuto cant find the zip file from ysmenu. the version it asks is YSMenu0810211800.zip

So what i tried is renaming my version of yasumenu bit it didnt work, any sugestions to fix this?

i was trying to do it myself, but also that didnt seem to work, i was using this guide: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=97615 at step 6 it doesnt generate r4patch.dat so im stuck

Put the YSMenu0901190111.zip file into your R4YSAuto folder.

Ah. I missed that part on my first read through.
Apparently there's a new version of the YSMenu out.
You can try updating your R4YSAuto through its updater to fix it.

Actually, YSMenu0902071630 is the most recent. It was released 19 days after YSMenu0901190111.

Try a2h's YSMenu Generator instead of R4YSauto.

1. how can i change the brightness of the backlight?
2. how can i see/use the cheats?
3. what does the dma and reset option mean (wenn highlighting a nds file)?

Got it to work, only i dont see a picture to change the backlight, but the option is there ^^ and software rest doesnt work, thanx all

I think cheats are same as R4, press Y,
Reset option is Soft Reset (i think)
Dunno about the backlight though.

When in YSMenu loader, if you tap on the top left corner of the bottom screen you can still change the brightness, the only thing is that there's no icon showing a sun like the R4, but, it still, works.
