the skins are embedded in the firmware, right? so everytime a new firmware comes out the skin is gone?

Atm yes.. but from firmare 1.05 and up. They will come as separate bmp files. So you can just easily overwrite them anytime after a new firmware update

(or better yet, just don't copy the _system_ folder from the new update and you will keep the prev skin always)

I thought I read that the lettering is produced by the system files and cannot be imbedded into the icons.bmp? So do I create the lettering or leave it off?

Thanks for the positive feedback on my Okami skin, I'll release it once 1.05 english is out so I can work out any problems with the icon.bmp file.
