WD drives come with a sleep timer set up already turned on, I think its set for 10 minutes. To turn it off, u need to install the software that came with the hard drive (or download it from WD website), u may need to update the firmware on the hard drive (the WD software will tell u if that's required and how to do it), then just launch the software, plug in the hard drive, go to the hard drive's settings and turn off the sleep timer.

First off. XFlak, thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction...The only thing that I've been able to find is that this is an issue, not that it has been fixed...do you know it has been fixed? Mines one of the small 2.5 1tb "SE" editions

So, what no one helps nubs here?

I will try to help the nubes, you "nub".

@Taellon:
Try formating the disc with WBFS (wii backup file system) format. You can d/l the wbfs-gui by searching the site. That's what I use with wii-flow. you may need additional IOS installed (I haven't looked to see if you've posted your config earlier in the thread). There's also a good list online that indicates which drives are compatible.

Did you make sure you plugged your usb cable into the port furthest to the right as you are facing the back of your wii?

And yet, you don't help me at all with my problem... thanks.

Ok, first off, you're not going to get help from the community b/c you're downloading pirated games and that's a no-no.
There are instructions for backing up copies of your own DVDs and burning them to disc that can be played on your wii. Also, you can use a usb external drive to accomplish the same thing but you need to do more research. The WBFS is a format type for the drive or partition, not a file type. You can't drop a WBFS folder onto a FAT or NTFS formatted drive.

Now rethink your purpose and do a bit more googling or search on GBATemp and let us know if you're still confusitated.

Well, I guess I got my answer. This is gayest fucking community ever. Every other community is about help, regardless of whether or not you're pirating. I honestly don't know who the hell cares that much to the point where people get sand in their vagina because someone is pirating games. If it's a legal thing, then fine. But you can still help people with their shit without it being said that it's pirating.

What's the fucking point of all this then? To play backups? Please, no one does that. You're all swapping games with Blockbuster or Gamefly and acting like you own your own games. Whatever, be [censored]s about it. Figures... the gayest system ever has the gayest community ever. I got my Wii for free. If I wasn't able to play pirated games on it, I'd sell it. Which is probably what I'm gonna do. Oh well. Thanks for nothing.

Have fun pretending not to pirate. Ban me, flame me, I really don't give a flying fuck. I'm done with this gay place, and the Wii. XBOX and PS3 ftw.

I'm having trouble playing a Japanese game burned onto a backup disc with Configurable USB loader (Tales of Graces, if it matters). When I run it either from the USB drive or booting from disc, the screen goes black and nothing happens. The drive is still on, I disabled the sleep timer.

I'm using a WD MyBook 500GB, it works for NTSC-U games just fine. I modded my Wii using the ModMii guide, part of which includes installing Priiloader and activating the "Region Free Everything" option. Despite this I suspect it's a region problem.

I don't think it's a bad burn, I've compared checksums and they match. Also, on the game options page, the music from the game plays so it's not a problem of the disc being unable to be read. I tried setting vidtv (supposedly helps with rendering japanese characters?) to on but that didn't do anything.

I've checked everything I can think of and I'm not sure what the next troubleshooting step should be. If anyone has any ideas for options I should tweak, or if there's some other hack I have to install to get around the region block, I'd be grateful.

e: derp maybe I should try region patching the iso, yeah, that might be a good idea
e: still didn't work. Maybe it's just this game :\
e: Oh. You have to change the language. Freaking duh.

For some reason I was reading "console default" as "disc default" and thought "well why would that change anything".

I have tried very hard to google it and search on this site for it but i just can't seem to find my answer so i will ask.

My overall aim is to run Kirby's epic yarn NTSC on my Pal 4.2E wii.

I have been having issues running it on configurable usb loader, it froze at the loading screen for making a new game save file every time. I had a look at the topic for the release of the game and everyone why said that it was working was using USB loader GX so i downloaded it and gave it a try. With every game i try to run with it, it has a glitch up of something where green stripes are at the top or bottom of the screen. I tried running cIOS249 rev19 installer as recommended by the USB loader GX web page and the same problem is still there.

Does anyone know how to get USB loader GX running or alternatively, how to get Kirby's epic yarn working in any way. (also, i have one of the wiis with the new disc drive.)

Thanks in advance and sorry that i couldn't find the answer,
DanWeb

Force NTSC in the settings menu in your loader.

can no one help me?

OK, have been getting some help off CFG loader thread, but have hit a bit of a brick wall, so thought I would try here as well. Resoftmodded my wii with modmii (as 4.2 virgin) Installed cfg loader and set up hdd. When I run cfg it loads, all games are visible, but my wiimote turns off and unsyncs and will not turn back on. It was previously suggested to enter ios=249 in cfg config as this may help, but still same error.
I also had to reinstall 222 / 223 as the v5 included with modmii caused errors in cfg so had to downgrade to v4 to get cfg to run. These were installed over ios236. Could this be causing my wiimote issue, should I have installed over 249???
Desperate to get this sorted as this hdd loaded with games is a surprise xmas present for my son. Thanks in advance for any help that can be given!

can no one help me?

c'mon, please help

i use CFG and WiiFlow with a FAT32 partition 32kb cluster size. I use cIOS222 rev5.1 to load up both usb loaders and use same cIOS to load WW VC Wii Games dont use ios 250 but for a handful of games. never liked gx.

Hey guys quick question,
i just spent the day softmodding my wii and have everything well and good(i think). external hard drive with all the goods on it, homebrew running...my question is, what format (?) do the games have to be to play them?
My son broke my epic mickey and my zelda twilight princess before i had a chance to do anything!. what do i do?

i mean this in no way toward anything illegal. I have purchased epic mickey, which is now ruined. if i download a torrent of the game what is the method of getting it to playable format on my usb loader?

@dangermoo. Whatever type of drive you have, first i suggest getting a program for your PC (sorry no mac version) called wii backup file manager. Open it up and select your drive. Then add a file of the iso, bwfs file or the rar file to the program (it will make sense when you open the program) and then transfer them to the drive using the folder. Most USB loaders will then read your drive and find the games (configurable, GX, wiiflow). Careful though, i am not sure if epic mickey has anti-piracy on it or not. Check the epic mickey topic for that. Hope i could help.

I searched for an answer but couldn't find none so if somebody could be helpful: when i try to exit black ops via home button to the system menu the screen freezes black (wiiflow). It didn't happen when i tried the same thing with CFG. Is this a loader thing or is it me?
Oh, one other thing: CFG is making the left side of my CRT go crazy; something happens to the colors, didn't notice that on the LCD.

ok so im trying too add games to wbfs manager to put on usb loader gx and it doesint respond i already got super mario galaxy to work what did i do wrong? btw theres plenty of space on the flash drive. thanks!

Has anyone tested USB Device Compatibility for a HITACHI LifeStudio 1TB Desktop Hard Drive for Wii backup loading? This particular device is not listed in the USB Devices Compatibility list.
