    Hello.
Recently I've bought an old xbox 360 with an vad6038 drive (I think a flashable one) and I was wondering if anybody could help me flash my drive.
I already have a VIA VT6421A PCI Sata Card (found it in an old part bin in my office, also read online that was used to do the flashing but never used it in the end), so I'm just asking for the necessary software / connections that I have to download / do.
Thanks for the help and have a nice day :)

All the xbox360 drives are able to be flashed I believe. You'll want to look for the jungleflasher program to get the dvdkey and also get the latest ixtreme firmware to flash to the drive. There are plenty of guides on team xecuters site.

Not all 360 drives can be flashed.
Majority of the Slim drives can't be flashed or need risky unlock methods.

You'll need Jungleflasher to flash your drive.
It comes with a manual which is more detailed then any other guide on the web.
Take a look at me sticky if you need more info.

I thought the only ones that were unable were the 360 slim e? I've flashed plenty of the slim 0225 and Hitachi drives.

There are more drives which can't be flashed as they got their keys stored in NAND only.

I'm not aware of any drives like that. I know that the liteon and Hitachi can all be unlocked without a nand dump. Although the unlock methods are not recommended for people without experience. I had a couple bad times with the kamikaze method.

    1175, 1214 and 1532 can't be flashed.
1175 I'm not entirely sure of but eh, there was a list on the Xkey forums saying it.

Hmm I've never had an xkey. Maybe those drives have issues with the xkey only. Ixtreme works for those drives I believe. Xkey is a odde (optical disc drive emulator) right? That's weird if it would be different.

    yeah im with @DinohScene....

I used to flash a lot, and slim, super slim, and fake xbox one weren't possible at the time...
only thing i know that has changed was the RGH being wayyyyy more reliable (and possible for the slim) :)

Xkey or RGH are the only options....
I wouldnt do an RGH myself...this late in the game.
Xkey is plug and play + usb loading, then end lol

    It's an ODDE yes.
It requires a full dump of the drive key + FW.
Some drives had their FW moved to the NAND.
I'm not certain on what drives anymore but it's somewhere on the Xkey forums.
Anyways, all Phat and most Slim drives can be flashed without a problem indeed.

Oh ya I do remember the issue with a full dump on the drive firmware. I hadn't kept up with the news as much since RGH and the xbox scene was dying off at the time the newer drives were surfacing.

Some drives need the FRCT.bin and CPU key on Slim.
I usually advise people to get an old Slim or new Phat if they want a hackable 360.
Just easier and less costly then RGHing it and then ODDEing it.

Burning discs etc is just a waste of time and people want it as easy as it can get.
Normally they already start about USB loading cause they know it's possible on the Wii.
