I have a Mariko V2 Nintendo Switch and I'm confused as to what modchip I actually need for it; I know you can find some for cheap on AliExpress but I'm not sure which one I should get.

You need a core chip like HWFLY Core, or RP2040 Core.

Both, the HWFLY Core, and RP2040 Core are pretty hard to install unless you have very steady hands, and small enough iron tip.

I install them pretty easily myself, but I have a whole soldering table.

I recommend you go thru a mail-in install service.

Hey I'm a bit late on seeing this but, do you have a picture of what the HWFLY or the RP2040 modchips look like? Just for Reference.
I have this chip. It says it's a hwfly core rp2040.

I've read that the level of difficulty is:

  • OLED - hardest
  • Lite - medium
  • Mariko - easiest
Is this true?

I searched "switch rp2040" on AliExpress, is this a "full kit"?

The kit you found does come with everything. It's almost identical to mine. I haven't modded a switch lite or OLED so I'm not sure the difficulty. I did try to mod my Mariko switch recently. My trouble was the solder points are so small it's hard to see them without some kind of microscope. You'll also need a very fine iron tip. And if you get solder in the wrong place your switch might not turn on. Might want to think about it carefully.

The term easy is for the people that have the right tools and know how to solder.
I have been modding consoles since ps2/ OG Xbox days.
So for me easy.
if you dont have experience in soldering then the easy term dont apply to you.

It seems easy when you look at youtube, but remember that the videos are captured through a hdmi microscope.
The points you are soldering is smaller than you think and not everyone can do it.

Note that the difficulty is relative. Even during the installation for Mariko, you have to be incredibly precise with your soldering job else your hardware is permanently fucked up.

If I were you, OP, I would just blow the money on an Erista. It's just not worth it to risk it.

Mariko is all new chips so it makes no sense to call it that.

But if we go with that system its the easiest by far. I would say go for it if they can.

Thanks! What size soldering tip do you recommend for soldering a Mariko modchip?

I solder normal electronics since I was a teenager but I have never soldered anything micro before.

What is the best modchip for a Switch V2?

What's the best place to buy it? Ebay? Temu? AliExpress?

Is it better to get flashable or nonflashable?

Thank you for the tips!

The chip I found was off Amazon for $16.99,the AliExpress chips are less expensive but take longer to ship. I've heard that most chips are flashable, but I'm not completely sure. Might want to research that. The gold solder points on this cable are pretty small. I think a tip like this would be good.

Thanks, is that a T19 tip?
