PlayStation 5 homebrew scene modder @LightningMods_ has shown the first commercial PS5 games running on their jailbroken console with console firmware version 4.03.

As seen in the above Tweet, Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition has been shown to boot successfully on their modified console. They have also shown The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience booting but have explicitly stated that this required a "crack" to do so, but further details are unknown at this time.

Currently only PlayStation 5 consoles that are on firmware version 4.51 or lower are susceptible to the current jailbreak methods.

Yes as Horizon FW bundles came out after that and still work.

Depends who is supplying those dumps to them.

They have made a rod for their own backs taking it on alone. But it centralises any issues which is handier for end users.

People want to be spoonfed readymade solutions, I can’t see most people attempting to backports stuff the way they do, and they have developed tools and techniques for it over the years.

Eh... I already got a PS5 and all games I want are either on PC already, PS4 games I've downloaded, or will be on PC soon-ish.
Not much of a point in this, really, specially when it can't run the latest games.

The problem with the ps4 vs PS5 was the increased hyper visor security. You needed to break it to be able to play games.

So it wasn't as easy as just one exploit but multiple

While I am one to enjoy buying and dumping my games, still not buying this console. The Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 are the latest I have from either side. I'm not sure yet if I will consider getting an Xbox One or a PlayStation 4 yet, but these companies have killed me a bit with all their wonky shenanigans and design choices. Why would I want to choose between two ugly ass systems that barely function unless I am online, I think Sony is still sort of fine with running physical games without the internet, but with their new disc drive internet requirement, yea no thanks. Sony and Microsoft just aren't what they could or should have been anymore, zero hope for either.

PC master race is closer to death than consoles are. By far. Desktop GPU sales at at their lowest in a very, very long time. Meanwhile, Sony is beating their own PS5 sales records in it's 3rd year after release.

Console and PC software sales have been stable for over a decade (read stagnant)

It's true console software outsells PC, but the gap is not widening

The only games sector that consistently grows is mobile, and it increases its lead by wide margins every year
