Hacking ps4 exploit for 7.51 or downgrade?

could be months if not a year before that firmware is stable enough with hen. 6.72 still isn't stable, so a lot of people, including myself, are still on 5.05. I've heard of the system shutting off right in the middle of a game on 6.72. I never played the system or used its exploits much on 5.05, but that just sounds frustrating. there was even someone who said their save got corrupted from a kernel panic as the system scans the system storage whenever that happens. to some, it's happened hundreds of times, especially if you're a tested of payloads. it's like the early wii u browser exploit, but much, much less stable.

yeah i updated to 6.72 yesterday now everything i try to install errors even though it verifies as ok in pkgverify, never had this issue with 5.05.

I'm waiting until @KiiWii says it's okay. it's weird cuz some people don't have any issues with it, but then there are others with lots of problems on 6.72. do you know if account activator or save mounter work? I finally rid myself o my banned account a few weeks ago with those on 5.05. what was odd is that when I changed back to my original account id (the banned one) games would crash. I'm not sure if it's because I installed them using a different account that then didn't exist anymore or what. luckily, save mounter doesn't need the games opened, in fact @Leeful advises against doing that as it can cause save corruption. anyway, no issues with games working on the new account. all saves work too. however, my system is more a testing and dumping station than anything else. I've been dumping themes for someone so he can analyze them. I've dumped about 30 of those thus far.

havent really tried much apart from trying to install pkg's, gonna try the remote install tomorrow, if that dont work then i'll try rebuilding the database, only updated cos too lazy to do backporting

backporting is supposed to cause major problems with games (even ones that work). I tested all of my backports to the title screen, so if something is wrong with any of them, I don't know about it.

someone said that you could only use extended storage on 6.72 with remote installs. dunno if that's true now or has always been true. however, all of my games are on an external hdd (not using remote play), so I assume they won't work. be careful with rebuilding the database, games will disappear if you do since they're not using a legit license I think. there's a python script that will fix the problem if that does happen. the games are still there physically, but the app.db is what determines where the game appears on the home menu. it won't be assigned a location unless the license is legit, so it will seemingly disappear.

I know how to assign a location manually on the vita, but I don't understand the ps4's app.db well enough. The vita's are called page and position.

you do need the game to run in order to back it up. we don't know the pfs keys, so the system has to remove pfs, then mount the game in the sandbox directory. originally, we had to ftp the games from that folder, but now we can copy the content to a flash drive with one of the payloads. it only works with games and patches, not themes or dlc. themes and dlc still require ftp.

I believe the fake package generator may be an official tool or close to it. it can't be linked to here, because it contains sony code. it says "hacked" whenever you generate a fake package as a warning. warnings are okay as there are some where the hackers placed their names, for example, but errors will stop the package creation process. afaik, there's no way to make a fake package without several warnings. nothing can be done about that. anyway, we have to use a lot of official means or have the system do this or that for us, since we don't have the necessary keys. that's the main reason the ps4 scene is such a pita compared with the ps3 one. we might have the same issues with the ps3 if not for the colossal fuck up by sony with their non random key.

I wish there was some sort of cfw. the main issue with the ps4 exploit is the kernel panics. sometimes the system will just shut off (usually after deploying a payload). that's the kind of crap you have to contend with.
 
5.05 has greater support. 6.72 seems to be unstable for a lot of people, but I'm still on 5.05, so I have no experience with it.
 
who knows. if it's not already patched, it most likely will be within weeks of its disclosure.
 
I mean that's probably what they showed in the video. they probably showed the system information section where it said 7.51, then proceeded to play some random game. in order to dump a game, you need the game to boot, then minimize. whether it's on newer firmware makes no difference. though, someone somehow dumped final fantasy vii remake (not the demo). it's 84GBs and requires 7.02 or should anyway. doubtful it can be backported.
