Hacking Ps3Xploit - Now Install CFW from 4.82 OFW : NOR/NAND Software Flash Writer + NOR Dumper Released
Not an exaggeration at all. I worked as a QA tester for 7 years and all Debug units and models of PS3 phats (around 450) suffered GPU failure at some point. Even my personal CEX launch 60GB model died after 5 years and even a professional reball job didn't save it completely. They're all time bombs tbh.
Honestly, just set the fan as fast as you can before it starts to become annoyingly loud. Maybe around 50%. There's no specific level.
The higher the better, but the console does start to like a rocket ship around 50% or so so don't set it too high.

Both my Phats went absolute fucking CRAZY on Webmans default dynamic fan control. Like, so loud that I was scared to not flip the switch on the back. I've never heard a louder fan on a consumer device. Put both back to syscon and all was fine though.
Yeah I seriously advice against that. The fans went crazy because they are trying to cool the chips that the syscon settings let run way too hot. (This is why phat models always die. They didn't cool efficiently and Sony didn't want something that sounded like a jet engine going out to consumers. So instead just set the syscon threshold too high.
Unfortunately, that does demonstate the point that others are making - that Phats run waaaay too hot. It's probably worth using webman but using a custom fan speed that you can tolerate.
Anyway, I made the switch from Ferrox to Rebug today for one reason - the ability to fake save data owner. This has allowed me to recover my Persona 5 save from my old console. Very pleased.

Basically this piece of boot code which was included on all newer consoles will panic when the old signing keys are presented to it. (The keys used to sign CFW updates) in short it does work on superslims that's why they brick. The exploit does indeed give us write access to NOR and does patch it. However this patch triggers a panic in mtldr2 and the console refuses to boot. Just wait as a HEN or homebrew enabler is sure to show but it will be a temp hack

so im a noob. finally got sucess and didn't know the diffrence between ferrox and rebug, so i picked rebug. from what im aware, i need something called multiman to install/play games.

Also, a bit off-topic, but why would Multiman crash and return to XMB when I have cobra enabled and I try to browse my games on the retro section? (Yes I had already changed MultiMan to Cobra compatible mode and it did the same thing)
Hey guys can someone help a poor turkey out please? My ps3 slim is running Cobra Ferrox 4.82 but once it loads to the XMB it shuts off then goes to "Connect usb to controller and press PS" or basically recovery mode, in a loop, recovering system files then going to XMB only to shut off and start over. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nuh that's only if you drink what first comes out when distilling, you must throw out the first part of it when it starts running. (Its called the "head(s)" of the run) Or use it for fuel or a general purpose cleaner+1
