Homebrew Proper Archii Setup

So i got the tarball and MIKE version 2. I have bootmii Boot2 installed. I was just wondering where i should put the files and what to do with them. If im correct, i need a new partition that is linux formatted (ext3?) on my SD card that has the tarball contents on it. Then i put the MIKE .elf in bootmii folder on my SD cards root. Correct me if im wrong. Plus ill take some suggestions.

K so i tried extracting the tarball, and i get a bunch of errors. What the proper command line (linux) way to extract it? I cant remember.
