I'm opening this thread to collect requests for custom banners and possibly sound* to use with the YANBF forwarder, basically to further populate the assets repository which will enable the generator to pick the files automatically.

If anyone already made such assets please post them here and also perhaps make a pull request so @lifehackerhansol can merge them.

Everyone is also invited to post their response to a request.

*the sound part is tricky, it has to be no more than 3 seconds and I'm far from being an expert in manipulating audio besides basic Audacity use but I'll try my best. Also sometimes the sound I'd like to use just doesn't fit and it gets weird, an example is Chrono Trigger for which I wanted to use the pendulum opening and while I really wanted to have 3 chimes, only 2 fit which I found weird (same as only 1)

In response to @Half-Stories request (sort of):

New Super Mario Bros. and Newer Super Mario Bros. DS

Not particularly colorful or anything but those are the logos after all, I hope you like them ^_^

For the sounds in both cases I used a piece of their respective intro, for New Super Mario Bros. from toward the beginning and for Newer Super Mario Bros. DS the part at the end (in this case from their official soundtrack)

@Lufvave I noticed your Call of Duty MW 3 Defiance custom banner you posted here and I couldn't find a logo with the "defiance" wording in it so I was wondering if you were willing to contribute your asset so others can use it.

Also I tentatively made a sound for it, I took this little piece from a MW3 trailer. If you already also had a sound by all means feel free to contribute that too

@WhistleBlue I took the liberty of making a custom banner for Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier Exceed to use with YANBF.
The uncertainty is the sound, I picked one from a collection of Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier sound effects (I can't really find one for Exceed).

If you have another sound in mind let me know, it has to be max 3 seconds long though (you can of course cut the bit you like from a longer one).

I also made one for Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier (same sound)

I got carried away and also added the Japanese version of the "Endless Frontier" logo and "The Lord Of Elemental"

Do you have time to make banners and sounds for DQIV and DQV? I'm planning on making a few of my own for other games, which I'll post here if I don't get lazy :)

Edit: Uploaded to repository!

Here you go. Matched to their region (for some reason they decided to change the position of the text between the US and EU releases...)

Let me know what you think. For the sound I couldn't decide what to use and in the end I settled to the same source midi (item related sound effect) but rendered in two different ways to differentiate them

Anyone know how to extract sfx from nds files? I want to try and make YANBF installer assets for an old favourite I used to play back in the computer shop kiosk called Big Brain Academy - it has this nice bell chime on Correct answers, that I wanted to use as menu music. I could always download the sfx from youtube or record it via aux or something, but the sound quality would be sub-par.

Before messing with the raw files you can check this website to see if someone already ripped them (they did) https://downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/big-brain-academy-nintendo-ds and then use Audacity to export the mp3 as stereo wav 16 bit PCM 3 second maximum
And there I'd already downloaded the tools, failed to find the right sfx in the nds, so already ripped and converted a youtube soundtrack :D

EDIT: Just looked through the site you linked; they don't have the jingle I'm looking for. Gimme a few mins and I'll do a pull request with the sfx. Just checking, should it be AYAP or AYA for the game ID (EUR big brain academy)?

EDIT2: Is there a graphics ripper for NDS, too? (otherwise I'll just screenshot and edit the START screen in TwilightMenu for the splash image)

There are 3 bell chime type of sound effects in that page I linked you, I thought it was one of them. Can you link me the part from youtube with that sound effect I'm curious now.

As for the image, I'd search google the logo and have it show only images with transparent background, then you can use lunapic to size it correctly.
HINT: Wikipedia has what you need https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cb/Big_Brain_Academy_Logo.png (needs to be autocropped and then rescaled appropriately

For the ID use AYA

4 bell chime, from Youtube (master = 128kbps AAC, it's not 100% clean, there's a microsecond of BGM at the beginning), in this pull request: https://github.com/YANBForwarder/assets/pull/24 (here's the youtube video, 4 bell chime on correct answers is the one). Pretty sure it's that one that I always remember, as it is very familiar and I spent hours playing that game in PC City... it was either that one, or the DS Lite boot SFX that I remembered... Or maybe the Wii home button? Heh, it was 2008 and not-much-sleep-ago.

Ah ok. I think you didn't autocrop the Wikipedia image first (if you used that as source) mine came out a little better from LunaPic

Here's my take also on the sound:

Guess Paint.NET isn't that great for resizing... Your image is much better. (... still prefer my sound, though yours is perhaps a better intro to the game)

Oh sound is completely arbitrary, mine is what I would've picked from the files available on that site and not having actually played the game.
For the images I think LunaPic is pretty much perfect for this kind of use, at least in my case since I don't really know how to use Photoshop or anything like that

Quick question, Yrouel - I'm trying to test out YANBF, and I generated a CIA of Big Brain, but it's coming out at 421kb - isn't it supposed bundle the NDS? or is there a specific folder where I'm supposed to dump it on the SD card?

These forwarders are just shortcuts so the nds rom needs to be somewhere on the microsd card. I recommend using /roms/nds and then you point to it using the -p parameter of the generator.

For example

Code:
generator -p /roms/nds/bigbrain.nds -b AYA.png -s AYA.wav /mycomputer/roms/bigbrain.nds

First path is in relation to the microsd and uses the POSIX notation and the second is on your computer and uses the notation of your os and generally you can just drag&drop the file to get that path automatically. -b and -s won't be necessary once it's committed of course
