I have downloaded the Project M demo and it says to install the files to the SD card. So I do that. Then it tells me to go the Stage builder, and then Gecko will automatically show up and launch the game. This didn't work, and I am beginning to suspect that it is because my SSBB copy is digital (.iso). But I've heard that other people are launching Project M just fine from Hard Drives. Are they wrong? Will it work? If not, is there anyway I can make it work without having to buy a copy of Brawl?

I play from CFG USB Loader and it works fine. Make sure your HDD is formatted to NTFS or it most likely won't work (I couldn't get it working with FAT32 or WBFS, just hung on "Now Loading" screen).

Just copy the codes to the SD and enable the Ocarina Cheats in CFG USB Loader.

You'll know it is activated when you see Captain Falcon instead of the Wrist strap warning (which, by the way, is USELESS of Brawl lol).

Note I also have a burned copy and it works through Neogamma as well.

HUH. I noticed they removed the original releases of the demo. I don't know if these new DLs work. There used to be several version depending on your loading method.

If it won't work I can upload my .zip to FileTrip (confirmed working with CFG) for you.

@ FIX94: They say for PAL users contact them via IRC to get help. I dunno what the difference is with the codes for NTSC and PAL so I can't help you...

Yep. it seems the new version they have up... ONLY works through the legit disc, or through Neogamma via burned disc. it won't work by USB.

I couldn't find my .zip, so I am compiling my own and uploading it now for you. I hope it'll work (it works fine for me).

Also, FIX94, try just changing the game ID to PAL and it should work, apparently.

I tried it out and it froze at the loading screen. I now contacted them on IRC, I hope somebody will answer.

Give my version a shot when I upload it.

Like I said, they used to have "Homebrew version" as an option to download but it seems this new one does not allow you to run it through Neogamma OR CFG.

My version (the ORIGINAL Homebrew version they removed) just needs to be copied to the SD, and have Ocarina cheats enabled and it works just like that.

EDIT: http://filetrip.net/f24892-Project-M-Demov...USB%29-1-0.html

enjoy.

I asked in IRC and they said it's not possible to play from PAL disc... I will simply wait for the final, this will be for pal for sure.

Their download just includes smash stack and gecko os with the file patch code. You can load it with any method you want, just don't put smash stack on your sd card.

I thought the same thing when I loaded it, but It wouldn't work when I tried it, though.

It worked fine for me, I didn't do much testing though, what happened when you tried?

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
