Been having some troubles. Every time I follow the on screen prompt to remove and re-insert my card during the update process my DSL restarts when I re-insert. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix? Thanks for the help.

Sounds like an issue with your DS, but you can use the DSi-file version, it doesn't ask you to remove and replace.
Mine did that as well, I had to use the DSL one because I was unbricking a couple of bricked carts. Eventually after a couple of tries I could eject and insert the other carts and get them updated (and working!). I had never had that problem before, and I generally update 3-5 or more at a time.
